Ode Records will release a soundtrack album for the Fox television event The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The album features the songs from the two-hour re-imagining of the original movie performed by the film’s cast and written by Richard O’Brien. The soundtrack will be released on October 21, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is directed by Kenny Ortega (This Is It, High School Musical) and stars Laverne Cox, Victoria Justice, Adam Lambert, Ben Vereen, Christina Milian and Tim Curry. The movie executive produced by Ortega, Lou Adler and Gail Berman is a remake of the 1975 cult classic and follows sweethearts Janet and Brd who stumble upon Dr. Frank-n-Furter’s bizarre abode. Hans Zimmer has joined Pharrell Williams to score the upcoming drama Hidden Figures. The film is directed by Theodore Melfi (St. Vincent) and stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell and Kevin Costner. The movie tells the true story of a group of brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. The show stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as a global martial arts and film sensation who is operating under the simple alias of “Johnson,” the most dangerous undercover private contractor in the world. Kat Foster, Moises Arias and Phylicia Rashad are co-starring. The film is directed by Brian McGinn (Ferrell Takes the Field) & Rod Blackhurst (Here Alone) and recounts the infamous trial, conviction and eventual acquittal of Seattle native Amanda Knox for the 2007 murder of a British exchange student in Italy. The movie explores three troubled teenagers’ relationships both with each other and the adult world around them. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Pete’s Dragon directed by David Lowery and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The film’s original music is composed by Daniel Hart (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Comet, Tumbleweed). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by Bonnie “Prince” Billy, The Lumineers, Lindsey Stirling feat. Also opening wide is the animated comedy Sausage Party directed by Conrad Vernon & Greg Tiernan and starring Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd and Nick Kroll. Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses) have composed the film’s original score. Menken has also contributed the original song The Great Beyond (with lyrics by Glenn Slater and the screenwriters).
