Broadway Records has released a score album for the comedy drama Speech & Debate. The album features the film’s original music composed by Deborah Lurie (Dear John, 9, An Unfinished Life, Safe Haven). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio samples. The label has also released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie. Speech & Debate directed by Dan Harris is based on Stephen Karam’s off-Broadway of the same title and stars Liam James, Sarah Steele, Austin McKenzie, Roger Bart, Janeane Garofalo, Wendi McLondon-Covey, Kal Penn, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Skylar Astin and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

‘Speech & Debate’ Soundtrack Announced
Broadway Records will release a soundtrack album for the comedy drama Speech & Debate. The album features the original songs from the movie, including the end title song Losers Are Winners (Flying Free) performed by Kristin Chenoweth and a new song from Austin P. McKenzie recorded exclusively for the album. Also included is a track from the film’s original score composed by Deborah Lurie (Dear John, An Unfinished Life). The soundtrack will be released on March 31, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Deborah Lurie Scoring Dan Harris’ ‘Speech & Debate’
Deborah Lurie is reteaming with Dan Harris (screenwriter of X-Men 2 & Superman Returns) on the upcoming comedy drama Speech & Debate. The film marks the filmmaker’s second feature directorial effort and stars Liam James, Sarah Steel, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Austin McKenzie. The movie is based on the off-Broadway play of the same title by Stephen Karam (The Seagull) and follows a misfit trio of high school students who, frustrated by the hypocrisy of their authority figures, revive their school’s long since shut-down speech and debate club. Karam has also written the screenplay. Tom Rice (The Way Way Back, is producing the project for Sycamore Pictures.
