The only new movie opening nationwide this weekend is the action adventure Maze Runner: The Death Cure directed by Wes Ball and starring Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, Barry Pepper, Will Poulter and Patricia Clarkson. The film’s original music is composed by John Paesano (Daredevil, The Defenders, When the Game Stands Tall, My All American) who also scored the first two installments in the series. Opening in limited release is the comedy drama Please Stand By directed by Ben Lewin and starring Dakota Fanning, Toni Collette, Alice Eve and Patton Oswalt. Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, The Smurfs, If I Stay, Beverly Hills Chihuahua) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie follows a young autistic woman who runs away from her caregiver in order to boldly go and deliver her 500-page Star Trek script to a writing competition in Hollywood. Steven Price has recently recorded his score for the upcoming Disneynature documentary Dolphins. The film is directed by Alastair Fothergill (Planet Earth, Chimpanzee, African Cats) & Keith Scholey (Bears, African Cats) and tells the story of Echo, a young dolphin who’s having trouble deciding between growing up and having fun. Scholey is also producing the project with Jane Hamlin. Price (Gravity, Suicide Squad, Fury, Baby Driver) has previously scored the Fothergill-produced BBC Earth natural history docu-series 
Lakeshore Records has released a score album for the indie drama American Folk. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ben Lovett (The Signal, The Ritual, Synchronicity, Black Rock). The soundtrack is now available to download on 
David Buckley has recently composed the music for the upcoming animated feature Arctic Justice. The film is co-written and directed by Aaron Woodley (Spark: A Space Tail, The Entitled) and features the voices of Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin, Heidi Klum, John Cleese, James Franco, Anjelica Huston and Omar Sy. The movie centers on a rag-tag group of inexperienced heroes who come together to stop the sinister Doc Walrus from accelerating global warming and melt the arctic circle.

Hollywood Records will release a score album for Marvel’s Hulu original series Runaways. The album features selections from the original music of the show’s first season composed by Siddhartha Khosla (This Is Us, The Royals, The Neighbors), including the main title theme and the original song Gert’s Lullaby, which he co-wrote with Ariela Barer. Hans Zimmer has been tapped to score the upcoming superhero movie X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The film marks the directorial debut of writer/producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Martian, Deadpool) and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain. Kinberg is also producing the project with Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects), Hutch Parker & Lauren Shuler Donner (Logan). 
Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the BBC & AMC limited series McMafia. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Tom Hodge & Franz Kirmann. The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 23 and is now available for pre-order on 
The full details of the Walt Disney Records Legacy Collection release for the 1991 animated classic Beauty and the Beast have been revealed. The album features the remastered original songs and score from the film composed by Alan Menken (Aladdin, Enchanted, The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Tangled), as well as seven demo tracks. Howard Ashman provided the songs’ lyrics. Menken’s score and the composers’ title song were honored with Academy Awards in 1992. The 2-CD set will be released on February 9, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on 
Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Terminator Genisys, The Crown, Home) has recently composed the score for the upcoming sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim Uprising. The film is directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil, Spartacus) and stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny, Rinko Kikuchi, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day. The movie follows Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, as he reunites with Mako Mori to lead a new generation of Jaeger pilots against a new Kaiju threat. Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni (Godzilla, The Great Wall, Warcraft) and Mary Parent (The Revenant) are producing the Legendary Entertainment production with Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) who helmed the 2013 original film (scored by Ramin Djawadi), as well as Boyega & Femi Oguns.
