2024 BAFTA Awards Original Score Longlist Announced

bafta1The British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) today announced the longlists for the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2024. This longlisting round was introduced in 2021, resulting in three rounds of voting. Round One voting produced the longlists in all categories announced today. Round Two voting, to determine the nominations, is opening todayto BAFTA’s voting members and will close on January 12. The full details of the new soundtrack album for Marvel Studios’ Disney+ original animated series What If…? have been revealed. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Laura Karpman (The Marvels, Ms. Marvel, American FictionLovecraft Country, Taken, Underground) &  Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum (Stockholm, Pennsylvania, Prisoner’s DaughterRegarding Susan SontagBird Karma). The soundtrack will be released digitally later today by Hollywood Records & Marvel Music and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. The labels have previously released albums for each episode of the back in 2021, as well as an EP for the Season 2 episode What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas? last month. Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for the Disney+ original documentary Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones & Harrison Ford. The album features the film’s original music composed by Raphaelle Thibaut (Secrets of the WhalesIntroducing, Selma Blair, Heart of Invictus, Mama’s Boy). The full details of the soundtrack album for the film adaptation of the stage musical Mean Girls have been revealed. The album features the songs from the film written by Jeff Richmond (30 Rock, Baby Mama, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Girls5eva) & Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde: The Musical, The Explorers Club) and performed by cast members including Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, Reneé Rapp, Jaquel Spivey, Avantika and Bebe Wood. The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, January 12 by Interscope Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version will be coming out next month (click here to order) and vinyl edition is set to be released in April (visit Amazon to order). A first song (Not My Fault performed by Rapp & Megan Thee Stallion) has already been released last month. Mean Girls is directed by Samantha Jayne & Arturo Perez Jr. and also stars Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, Christopher Briney, Tim Meadows and Tina Fey (who also wrote the screenplay). Brocker Way (Wild Wild Country, The Battered Bastards of Baseball, Untold) has composed the original score for the new Hulu original series Death and Other Details. The show is created by Mike Weiss (Code Black) & Heidi Cole McAdams and stars Violett Beane, Mandy Patinkin, Lauren Patten, Angela Zhou,Rahul Kohli, Pardis Saremi, Hugo Diego Garcia and Linda Emond. The 10-part murder mystery is set amidst the glamor of the global elite and follows a brilliant and restless woman who finds herself in the wrong place/wrong time and becomes the prime suspect in a locked room murder mystery. The album features the movie’s original music composed by Rob Simonsen (Ghostbusters: AfterlifeThe Whale, The Way Back, The Adam Project, (500) Days of Summer, Foxcatcher, Nerve). Amazon Content Services will release a soundtrack album for the sci-fi drama Foe. The album features the film’s original score composed by Park JihaOliver Coates (Aftersun, The Stranger, Occupied City) and singer/songwriter Agnes Obel. The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, January 5 and will be available to stream/download here. Foe is co-written and directed by Garth Davis and stars Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal and Aaron Pierre. The movie is  based on Iain Reid’s novel of the same title and follows a married couple living on a secluded piece of land whose life is thrown into turmoil when an uninvited stranger shows up at their door with a startling proposal.
