This week, George Fenton is recording his score for the upcoming drama Woman Walks Ahead. The film is directed by Susanna White (Nanny McPhee Returns, Our Kind of Traitor) and stars Jessica Chastain, Sam Rockwell, Ciaran Hinds, Michael Greyeyes, Chaske Spencer and Bill Camp. The movie tells the true story of Catherine Weldon, a portrait painter from 1890s Brooklyn, who travels to Dakota to paint a portrait of Sitting Bull, and becomes embroiled in the Lakota peoples’ struggle over the rights to their land. Premiering on Friday, May 12, is the Amazon original series I Love Dick created by Jill Soloway & Sarah Gubbins based on Chris Kraus’ 1997 novel/memoir and starring Kevin Bacon, Kathryn Hahn, Griffin Dunne and Roberta Colindrez. The show’s original music is composed by Mandy Hoffman (Terri, The Lovers). Jonas Struck and Vladislav Delay are scoring the upcoming sports drama Borg/McEnroe. The film is directed by Janus Metz (Armadillo) and centers on the rivalry between U.S. tennis champ Jon McEnroe and Sweden’s Bjorn Borg, which came to a head at Wimbledon 1980. The movie stars Sverrir Gudnason as Borg, Shia LaBeouf as McEnroe, Stellan Skarsgardas as Borg’s trainer, Lennart Bergelin. Tuva Novotny, Robert Emms and Ian Blackman are co-starring. Ronnie Sandahl (Underdog) wrote the screenplay. Jon Nohrstedt (Bamse and the City of Thieves) and Fredrik Wikström Nicastro (Easy Money series) are producing the project. The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell. The film’s original score is composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen). Hollywood Records has released two soundtrack albums, including the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 featuring the songs from the movie, as well as score album featuring Bates’ music. Opening in limited release is the comedy drama 3 Generations co-written and directed by Gaby Dellal and starring Elle Fanning, Naomi Watts, Susan Sarandon, Sam Trammell, Linda Emond and Tate Donovan. West Dylan Thordson (Split, Foxcatcher) has composed the film’s original score. Michael Brook composed the original version of the film (entitled About Ray), which premiered at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album for the National Geographic documentary LA 92. The album features the film’s original music composed by Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans (The Gift, Enemy, The OA, The Discovery, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Last Days in the Desert). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. LA 92 is directed by Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin (Undefeated) and tells the definitive story of the 1992 Los Angeles riots from the inside and from the point of view of those involved, using unseen personal footage and news archives, and testimonies of those who lived through it. Rob Simonsen is reteaming with director Marc Webb on the upcoming drama The Only Living Boy in New York. The movie starring Kate Beckinsale, Jeff Bridges, Callum Turner, Pierce Brosnan, Cynthia Nixon and Kiersey Clemons centers on a young man who finds himself way over his head when he starts an affair with an alluring woman who happens to be his father’s mistress. Allan Loeb (21, Just Go With It) wrote the screenplay. Albert Berger & Ron Yerxa (Little Miss Sunshine, Election, Cold Mountain, Nebraska) are producing the project. Simonsen previously scored Webb’s last feature Gifted, which is currently playing in theaters nationwide, and also co-scored his first feature (500) Days of Summer with Mychael Danna. ‘American Gods’ Main Titles Theme Released

Milan Records has released the main titles theme for the new Starz original series American Gods. The track is written by the show’s composer Brian Reitzell (30 Days of Night, Hannibal, Lost in Translation, Stranger Than Fiction) and features vocals by Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson. The theme is now available to download on Amazon. The label has also released the song In the Pines by Reitzell & Mark Lanegan last week.
