‘Plus One’ to Feature Original Songs by Real Estate

The indie rock band Real Estate will be contributing original songs to the upcoming romantic comedy Plus One. The film is written and directed by Andrew Rhymer & Jeff Chan and stars Jack Quaid, Maya Erskine, Ed Begley Jr, Perrey Reeves, Finn Wittrock, Rosalind Chao, Jon Bass and Beck Bennett. The movie centers on a a couple of friends in their 20s who help each other get through a parade of insufferable weddings. Ben Stiller, Nicholas Weinstock & Jackie Cohn are executive producing the project for Red Hour Films, alongside Dan Weinstein, Michael Schreiber & Amee Dolleman for Studio71. The full details of the soundtrack album for Joe Wright’s biographical drama Darkest Hour have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Dario Marianelli (Kubo and the Two StringsV for VendettaPaddington 2) who previously scored the director’s AtonementPride and Prejudice and Anna Karenina. Vikingur Olafsson is featured as the piano soloist on the composer’s score. ‘Trafficked’ Soundtrack Released

A soundtrack album has been released for the dramatic thriller Trafficked. The album features the film’s original music composed by David Das (The Appearing). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Trafficked is directed by Will Wallace and stars Anne Archer, Ashley Judd, Elisabeth Röhm, Sean Patrick Flanery, Madison Wolfe, Kelly Washington, Jessica Obilom and Patrick Duffy. The movie follows three girls from America, Nigeria and India who are trafficked through an elaborate global network and enslaved in a Texas brothel, and must together attempt a daring escape to reclaim their freedom. Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the Russian historical fantasy epic Furious – The Legend of Kolovrat. The album features the film’s original music composed by Serj Tankian. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 8, 2017. Check back on this page for the download link and the cover art. Furious – The Legend of Kolovrat is directed by Ivan Shurhoveckiy and stars Ilya Malakov, Polina Chernyshova, Aleksei Serebryakov and Yuliya Khlynina. The movie is set in the 13th century and centers on the Ryazan knight Evpaty Kolovrat—the leader of a seventeen-man squad who defend against thousands of Mongol warrior hordes and their leader Batu Khan. Roger Neill has been tapped to score the upcoming movie musical Valley Girl. The film is directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg and stars Jessica Rothe, Josh Whitehouse, Mae Whitman, Chloe Bennet, Peyton List, Logan Paul, Jessie Ennis and Ashleigh Murray. The movie is based on Martha Coolidge’s 1983 romantic comedy of the same title and follows a Fernando Valley girl whose world and values are rocked when she falls hard for a rock musician. Luis Bacalov (1933 – 2017)

Luis Bacalov has passed away today at age 84 in Rome. The composer is best known for his score for the Italian drama Il Postino, for which he received the Academy Award in the Best Original Score category in 1996. He was also Oscar-nominated  in 1967 for his work on Pasolini’s The Gospel According to St. Matthew. His other credits include numerous westerns such as DjangoA Bullet for the General and The Grand Duel. Other notable movies he worked on include B. Monkey, The Love Letter, Robert Duvall’s Assassination Tango, Woman on Top and Polish Wedding.  Read the rest of this entry »

Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Silence of the Lambs, The Aviator, Spotlight) has recently scored the upcoming drama The Catcher Was a Spy. The film is directed by Ben Lewin (The Sessions) and stars Paul Rudd, Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce, Paul Giamatti, Jeff Daniels, Mark Strong, Tom Wilkinson, Connie Nielsen and Hiroyuki Sanada. The movie is based on Nicholas Dawidoff’s NYT bestselling book and tells the true story of Moe Berg, the professional baseball player-turned-top secret spy for the O.S.S who helped the U.S. win the race against Germany to build the atomic bomb. The soundtrack will be released digitally on iTunes this Friday, November 17 and on other platforms the following week. Check back on this page for the download link. Intent to Destroy is directed by Joe Berlinger (Paradise Lost, Brother’s Keeper) and explores the violent history of the Armenian Genocide and legacy of Turkish suppression and denial over the past century. Jed Kurzel is reteaming with Jennifer Kent on the upcoming period thriller The Nightingale. The film is written and directed by Kent and stars Sam Claflin, Aisling Franciosi, Damon Herriman, Ewen Leslie, Harry Greenwood, Aboriginal Djuki Mala, Baykali Ganambarr and Magnolia Maymuru. The movie is set in Tasmania, Australia in 1825 and follows an Irish female convict who witnesses the brutal murder of her husband and baby by her soldier master and his cronies and takes an Aboriginal male tracker with her through the hellish wilderness to seek revenge on the men. The album features the show’s original music composed by Nico Muhly (The ReaderKill Your Darlings, Margaret, Joshua). The soundtrack is already available digitally in the UK and will be released digitally in the U.S. on January 5 and physically on April 6.
