Alex Baranowski (True Things, The Teacher, The Kitchen, Frauds, Locked In, Midas Man, Brides, Rain Dogs, The Windmere Children, A Perfect Enemy) has recently scored the new MGM+ limited series Treasure Island. The show is created by Robert Murphy inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s 18th Century epic and stars David Oyelowo, Hayley Atwell, Jack Huston, Tom Sweet and Tomer Capone. The 6-part drama follows a young Jim Hawkins and his mother who come into possession of a legendary pirate’s treasure map and are drawn into a deadly voyage across the Atlantic, where Jim is forced to navigate mutiny, violence and betrayal. Murphy is also executive producing the Playground production with David Stern (Howards End, The Last Tycoon), Scott Huff (The Missing, The White Princess), Colin Callender (Wolf Hall, All Creatures Great & Small), and Daniel Gratton (The Undeclared War), as well as Jeremy Lovering (In Fear) who also directed two episodes. Treasure Island will premiere this Sunday, October 11 on MGM+ and will debut in the UK the following day on Paramount+.
