The Newton Brothers are scoring the upcoming supernatural horror/crime thriller The Exorcist: Martyrs. The film is written and directed by Mike Flanagan and stars Scarlett Johansson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Diane Lane, Sasha Calle, Laurence Fishburne, Jacobi Jupe, Scoot McNairy, Gil Bellows and John Leguizamo. The movie based on characters created by William Peter Blatty (who scripted William Friedkin’s original 1973 The Exorcist movie) follows a New York City detective who is dragged back into the darkness of her past when a new killer emerges thirteen years after she stopped a satanic serial killer. Flanagan is also producing the project with David Robinson (Dead Ringers, Dream House) and Jason Blum (Get Out, Halloween) for Blumhouse. The Newton Brothers have previously scored most of Flanagan’s (directorial) features, including Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Doctor Sleep & The Life of Chuck, as well as numerous TV shows, including Prime Video’s Carrie, which just premiered this past Wednesday. The Exorcist: Martyrs will be released in theaters nationwide on March 12, 2027 by Universal Pictures,

The composers’ also continue to score Marvel’s Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, which will return for its third and final season next year, as well as X-Men’97, which has also been renewed for a third season.
