Nicolas Becker (Sound of Metal, A Prayer Before Dawn, EarwigMemory House)& Quentin Sirjacq (BrotherMade in ChinaI Feel Better) are set to score the upcoming documentary Lions of the Sea. The film directed by Luis Felipe Fernández-Salvador y Campodonico (A Son of Man) is set in the Galapagos Islands and centers on a young sea lion who struggles to fend for himself in the face of food scarcity after losing his mother while fleeing from a group of fishermen and sets out to find a new sanctuary. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album for the HBO original series True Detective: Night Country. The album features selections of the show’s original score  composed by Vince Pope (Black Mirror: Be Right Back, No OffenceResistance, Mr Bates vs. the Post Office, You & MeMisfitsWolfe). Tanya Tagaq is the featured vocalist on the score and also contributed music to the drama. Also included are songs performed by Monica Martin and John Hawkes. Ludwig Göransson has received his first BAFTA Award for his music for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer in the Original Score category at today’s 2024 EE British Academy Film Awards ceremony in London. He previously won the Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award and is also up for an Academy Award for his score for the biographical thriller. Premiering on Wednesday, February 21, is the Apple TV+ original series Constellation created by Peter Harness and starring Noomi Rapace, Jonathan Banks, James D’Arcy, Julian Looman, William Catlett, Barbara Sukowa, Rosie Coleman and Davina Coleman. The show’s original music is composed by Ben Salisbury (Ex Machina, Devs, Annihilation, Archive 81, Luce) and Suvi-Eeva Äikäs (Matriarch, Baghead, Hanna). Daniel Pemberton & Metro Boomin were honored with their first Annie Award in Feature category for their music from Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at tonight’s 51st Annie Awards ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Pemberton composed the movie’s score, while Metro Boomin served as the executive producer of the film’s soundtrack, which was released by Republic Records. Pemberton’s score was released by Sony Classical. The other contenders in the category were Thomas Newman for Elemental, Kazuma Jinnouchi & RADWIMPS for Suzume, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Joe Hisaishi for The Boy and the Heron. Netflix Music has released a soundtrack EP for the South African Netflix original film A Soweto Love Story. The 6-track EP features three tracks performed by the Afrikariz Choir, as well as three songs from the movie performed by Didintle Khunou. A Soweto Love Story is directed by Rolie Nikiwe and stars Lunga Shabalala, Duduzile Ngcobo, Zenzelisphesihle Sparky Xulu, Ray Neo Buso, Motsoaledi Setumo and Mamodibe Ramodibe . The film’s original score is composed by Kris Bowers (Bridgerton, Green Book, Haunted Mansion, King Richard, Secret Invasion, The Color Purple). The film is written and directed by Kiah Roache-Turner (Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead, Nektrotonic) and stars Ryan Corr, Alyla Browne, Penelope Mitchell, Noni Hazelhurst, Robyn Nevin, Danny Kim, Silvia Colloca and Jermaine Fowler.
