Varese Sarabande will release a new soundtrack album for the 1995 thriller Hackers directed by Iain Softley and starring Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina Jolie, Renoly Santiago, Laurence Mason, Matthew Lillard, Jesse Bradford, Lorraine Bracco and Fisher Stevens. The album, which is being released in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the film, features electronic music tracks from the original soundtrack album by artists such as Underworld, Orbital, Prodigy, among others. Also included are nine previously unreleased score tracks by composer Simon Boswell (Shallow Grave, Lord of Illusions, A Midsummer Night’s Dream), as well as two pieces by Guy Pratt. Atli Örvarsson (The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Vantage Point, The Edge of Seventeen, The Eagle) is scoring the upcoming Apple TV+ original limited series Defending Jacob. The show is created by Mark Bomback (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Wolverine, Unstoppable) and stars Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, Jaeden Martell, Cherry Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Betty Gabriel and Sakina Jaffrey. ‘Promising Young Woman’ Soundtrack Album Announced

Capitol Records has announced a soundtrack album for the drama Promising Young Woman. The album features two original songs by CYN (one of which is already available, check out the music video after the jump), new songs by DeathbyRomy and FLETCHER, previouslu unreleased tracks by Muna and Blessus, as well as new covers recorded for the film, including Carmen DeLeon’s interpretation of He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss) by The Crystals, DeathbyRomy’s take on The Weather Girls’ It’s Raining Men and Donna Missal’s version of Cigarettes After Sex’s Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby. Also included are tracks by Charli XCX, Paris Hilton, Sky Ferreira, Juice Newton and film’s composer Anthony Willis’ version of Britney Spears’ Toxic. Premiering in the U.S. tomorrow, March 9, is the British thriller Temple developed by Mark O’Rowe based on the Norwegian series Valkyrien and starring Mark Strong, Carice van Houten and Daniel Mays. The show’s original music is composed by Matthew Herbert (Disobedience, A Fantastic Woman, The Cave, Life in a Day, Gloria Bell). SATV Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music from the first season. Also premiering tomorrow is the docu-series Cosmos: Possible Worlds presented by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and written, directed and executive produced by Ann Druyan & Brannon Braga. Alan Silvestri (Avengers: Endgame, Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, The Polar Express, Captain America: The First Avenger) who previously scored 2014’s Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey has composed the show’s original music. The track is written and performed by Grace VanderWaal (who made her acting debut on the movie) and is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. The song will also be featured on the film’s official soundtrack album (which also includes the movie’s original score by Rob Simonsen), which will be released on March 13 by Walt Disney Records. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Onward directed by Dan Scanlon and starring Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer. The film’s original score is composed by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote, Little Miss Sunshine) and Jeff Danna (The Good Dinosaur, The Addams Family, Storks). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as an original song co-written and performed by Brandi Carlile.
