He is also writing the screenplay for the film, which will be directed by actor Mark Webber (who previously helmed several features, including 2019’s The Place of No Words) and is set in the Los Angeles animal rights and activism scene. The show is created by Fernando Rovzar (Monarca, Control Z) & Pablo Aramendi (All Wrong) and stars Bárbara Mori, Ximena Sariñana, Natalia Téllez, Amorita Rasgado, Miguel Rodarte, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Christian Tappan, and Horacio García Rojas. The 10-part crime drama is set in 1970 and tells the true story of four women who defy the ultraconservative norms of the time and join Mexico’s first female police force, only to discover that their squad is a publicity stunt to distract the media from a brutal serial killer. Intrada Records has announced a reissue of the soundtrack album for David Lynch’s 1999 drama The Straight Story starring Richard Farnsworth, Sissy Spacek and Harry Dean Stanton. The album features the film’s original music composed by Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Blue VelvetMulholland Drive, The Beach, Wild at Heart, The City of Lost Children, A Very Long Engagement). The CD, which includes the same content as the (now out of print) original 1999 soundtrack album (released by Windham Hill Records) with new liner notes and cover art, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the release. The film is written and directed by Savi Gabizon (Nina’s Tragedies) and stars Richard Gere, Suzanne Clément and Diane Kruger. Premiering on Wednesday, May 29, is the Hulu documentary series Camden directed by Asif Kapadia and executive produced by Dua Lipa, Dukagjin Lipa, Simon Chinn, Jonathan Chinn, Suzanne Lavery, Nick Shymansky, Jasper Waller-Bridge and Ben Friedman. The show’s original score is composed by Toydrum (Slow Horses, DetourPrevengeThree Pines, Platform 7, The BanishingFuture WorldSweetheart). The Lightbox production, which reveals the untold stories of how the lives and careers of some of the world’s most iconic artists were influenced by this corner of London, is premiering in the U.S. on Hulu and in most international markets on Disney+.

Richard M. Sherman (1928-2024)

Richard M. Sherman passed away today at age 95 in at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, California, due to age-related illness. Together with his brother Robert B. Sherman, the composer/lyricist wrote numerous songs for film and television and received two Academy Awards for the score and original song Chim Chim Cher-ee  from Disney’s 1964 classic Mary Poppins. He received seven additional Academy Award nominations for the 1968 musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Disney’s 1971 feature Bedknobs and Broomsticks, 1973’s film adaptation of Tom Sawyer, the 1976 musical The Slipper and the Rose & 1978’s The Magic of Lassie, as well three Grammy Awards and 24 gold and platinum albums over the course of his 65 year career.
