A soundtrack album will be released for the Australian sci-fi thriller Ascendant (aka Rising Wolf). The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee David Hirschfelder (Shine, ElizabethThe Railway Man, AustraliaSanctum, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole) .The soundtrack will be released this Thursday, April 8 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ascendant is directed by Antaine Furlong and stars Charlotte Best, Jonny Pasvolsky, Susan Prior, Alex Menglet, Justin Stewart Cotta and Tahlia Sturzaker. The movie folows a woman who gets kidnapped and is being held hostage in a high-speed elevator in a 120-floor building in Shanghai, where she begins to realize she has incredible powers within. Varèse Sarabande Records has announced a number of new soundtrack LPs on Record Store Day 2021’s newly announced release dates, including a deluxe 3-LP set for the 1999 sci-fi classic The Matrix directed by the Wachowski siblings and starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Pantoliano. The album features the complete score from the film composed and conducted by Don Davis (The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, Jurassic Park 3, Bound). The release is pressed on Glitter-Infused Green vinyl, expanded to 44 tracks, and housed in a new art design, and also includes classic film stills and an exclusive new interview with the composer. Rapper/record producer G-Eazy has made his film scoring debut on the upcoming indie horror thriller 18 & Over. The film is directed by Jimmy Giannopolous and stars Ashley Benson, Jon Foster, Jake Weary, Sky Ferreira, Luis Guzman, Duke Nicholson, Winnie Harlow, A$AP Nast, John Robinson, Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson. G-Eazy also appears in the pandemic-inspired movie, which takes place when quarantine leads to a night of terror. Giannopolous co-wrote the screenplay with Diomedes Raul Bermudez who is also producing the project with Benson, Siena Oberman (Mainstream, The Sinners) and Cassius Corrigan. The track (originally written by Alex Stiff, Marc Cazorla & Chris Vos) is performed by the show’s star Katey Sagal. Zoë Poledouris & Angel Roché Jr. are teaming up to score the upcoming animated comedy Pierre the Pigeon-Hawk. The film marks the directorial debut of producer John D. Eraklis (Igor) and features the voices of will.i.am, Snoop Dogg, Jennifer Hudson, Whoopi Goldberg, Howie Mandel, Kenan Thompson, Jennifer Coolidge, Luis Guzman, Domenick Lombardozzi, Paul Blackthorne, Jamal Trulove, Evan Ross and Ashley Simpson. The movie is set in New York City and follows the title character who was born out of forbidden love between a hawk and a pigeon and – rejected by both communities – sets out on an adventure to find himself and makes some new friends along the way. The album features the show’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Your Honor, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, Ammonite, The Old Guard, Patrick Melrose). Jason Hill (Mindhunter, Fyre, The Confession Killer) has composed the original score for the new Netflix docu-series This Is a Robbery: The World’s Biggest Art Heist. The show is directed by Colin Barnicle and focuses on the biggest art heist in history over St. Patrick’s Day weekend in 1990, when two men dressed as cops conned their way into the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and steal a fortune in art. Sony Masterworks will release the first-ever score album for the 1989 comedy Ghostbusters II directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. The album features the film’s original score by Randy Edelman (Dragonheart, xXx, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Kindergarten Cop, While You Were Sleeping, Gettysburg). No release date has been confirmed yet, but the soundtrack is currently listed to be released on June 11, 2021 in various international music stores. Check back on this page for the pre-order links. Emile Mosseri (Minari, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Kajillionaire, Homecoming) has revealed in a recent interview with Next Best Picture that he is set to compose the music for actor Jesse Eisenberg’s directorial debut When You Finish Saving the World. The film is written and directed by Eisenberg and stars Julianne Moore, Finn Wolfhard, Alisha Boe and Billy Bryk. The comedy drama is based on Eisenberg’s Audible project of the same title, which was told from the perspective of three family members, at different stages of their lives.
