Madison Gate Records will release a soundtrack album for the Starz original series Outlander. The album features selections of the original score from the first season of the show written by Emmy Award-winning composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., DaVinci’s Demons). Also featured are the songs adapted by McCreary for the series, including the main title theme, The Skye Boat Song, performed by Raya Yarbrough. The soundtrack will be released both digitally and physically on February 10, 2015. The label has previously released the main title theme as a single this past summer. Outlander is created by Ronald D. Moore based on the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon and stars Caitrona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish, Gary Lewis, Duncan Lacroix, Annette Badland and Stephen Walters.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (January 11, 2015)
Premiering tonight is the new HBO original series Togetherness created and executive produced by Mark & Jay Duplass and starring Amanda Peet, Melanie Lynskey, Mark Duplass and Steve Zissis. The show’s original music is composed by Michael Andrews (Neighbors, Bridesmaids, Donnie Darko) who previously scored the Duplass Brothers’ features Cyrus and Jeff Who Lives at Home. The series about two couples who are living under the same Los Angeles roof and who are struggling in their relationships while dealing with their individual problems will every Sunday night on HBO. Premiering tomorrow, January 12, is the new MTV original drama Eye Candy based on the book by R.L. Stine, executive produced by Jason Blum and starring Victoria Justice, Casey Deidrick, Harvey Guillen, Kiersey Clemons and John Garet Stoker. Dino Meneghin (Teen Wolf) is composing the show’s original score. Eye Candy follows a tech genius who is persuaded by her roommate to begin online dating and begins to suspect that one of her mysterious suitors might be a deadly cyber stalker. Fil Eisler to Score Lifetime’s ‘UnReal’
Fil Eisler has been tapped to score the upcoming Lifetime original series UnReal. The show is created by Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce) & Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and stars Shiri Appleby, Constance Zimmer, Craig Bierko, Freddie Stroma, Josh Kelly and Nathalie Kelley. The show is based on Shapiro’s short Sequin Raze and follows a young staff member on a hit competition dating show who does everything she can to help please the show’s executive producer. Noxon & Shapiro are also executive producing the project with Robert M. Sertner (Mistresses, No Ordinary People), Bill Davenport and Sally DeSipio.
Lifetime’s ‘Whitney’ Biopic to Feature Music by RedOne
Music producer/songwriter RedOne is making his scoring debut on the Lifetime original movie Whitney. The film is directed by actress Angela Bassett and stars Yaya DaCosta as Whitney Houston and Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown. Houston’s vocal performances in the film are performed by Grammy nominee Deborah Cox. The movie chronicles the relationship between the iconic singer, actress, producer and model Whitney Houston and singer and songwriter Bobby Brown from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity to their courtship and tumultuous marriage. Shem Bitterman has written the script and Larry Sanitsky (Betty & Coretta) is executive producing the project.
John Lunn to Score BBC America’s ‘The Last Kingdom’
John Lunn has been tapped to score the upcoming historical drama series The Last Kingdom. The show stars Alexander Dreymon, Rutger Hauer, David Dawson, Emily Cox, Matthew Macfadyen, Ian Hart, Tobias Santelmann, Thomas W. Gabrielsson, Peter Gantzler, Joseph Millson, Alexandre Willaume, Rune Temte and Henning Valin Jakobsen. The 8-parter based on Bernard Cornwell’s best-selling novels The Saxon Stories is set during the reign of Alfred the Great, who as King of Wessex fought off a Viking invasion and follows the son of a Saxon nobleman who is orphaned by the Vikings and then kidnapped and raised as one of their own. Stephen Butchard has adapted the material for the small screen.

Premiering tonight is the musical comedy Galavant created by Dan Fogelman and starring Joshua Sasse, Mallory Jansen, Karen David, Timothy Omundson, Vinnie Jones and Luke Youngblood. The show features original songs written by Alan Menken (Aladdin, The Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) and Glenn Slater. The series’ underscore is composed by Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Revolution, Supernatural). Hollywood Reords has already released three songs from the comedy. Premiering on Tuesday, January 6, is Marvel Studio’s & ABC’s new series Agent Carter created by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and starring Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray. Christopher Lennertz (Identity Thief, Horrible Bosses, Hop) who previously scored the Marvel One-Shot short film of the same title is composing the show’s original music. Mark Isham Scoring ABC’s ‘American Crime’
Mark Isham is composing the score for the upcoming ABC drama American Crime. The show is created by John Ridley (12 Years a Slave, Jimi: All Is By My Side) and stars Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, W. Earl Brown, Richard Cabral, Caitlin Gerard, Benito Martinez, Penelope Ann Miller, Elvis Nolasco and Johnny Ortiz. The series centers around the brutal attack on a young couple in Modesto, California, their parents and the four suspects who are about to be arrested. Ridley has also directed the pilot and is executive producing the ABC Studios production with Michael J. McDonald.
Neil Davidge Scoring ‘Spotless’ TV Series
Neil Davidge is composing the music for the upcoming crime drama series Spotless. The show is created by Ed McCardie (Shameless) & Corinne Marrinan (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and stars Miranda Raison, Brendan Coyle, Marc-André Grondin and Denis Ménochet. The series follows a troubled man whose tidy life is turned upside down when his outlaw brother crash lands into his world, and gets both of them fatally involved in organized crime. Pascal Chaumeil (Heartbreaker, A Long Way Down) directed the first two episodes. McCardie is also executive producing the Tandem Communications and Rosetta Media production with Suzanne Berger (Hell of Wheels), Jonas Bauer (The Company) and Rola Bauer
(Crossing Lines, The Pillars of the Earth).
Ramin Djawadi to Score HBO’s ‘Westworld’
Ramin Djawadi has signed on to score the pilot of the upcoming HBO original series Westworld. The show is created by Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight, Memento) & Lisa Joy based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 film of the same title and stars Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Ed Harris, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman. The show is set at an amusement park and is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. Nolan & Joy are also executive producing the Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television production with J. J. Abrams & Bryan Burk (Lost, Star Trek) and Jerry Weintraub (Ocean’s Eleven, The Karate Kid).
William Ross to Score Hallmark Hall of Fame’s ‘Away & Back’
William Ross has been hired to score the upcoming Hallmark Hall of Fame original movie Away & Back. The movie stars Jason Lee, Minka Kelly and Maggie Elizabeth Jones. The film is set on the Peterson Farm where a 10-year old girl and her dad discover a family of swans and follows a no-nonsense ornithologist who rushes in to “save” the majestic birds. Ross has previously scored In My Dreams and One Christmas Eve for Hallmark Hall of Fame Productions. Away and Back is set to premiere on January 25, 2015 on the Hallmark Channel.
