Jeff Russo has been hired to score the upcoming Netflix original series The Umbrella Academy. The show is developed by Steve Blackman (Legion, Altered Carbon) based on the comics and graphic novels of the same name created by Gerard Way and stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Adam Godley, Ashley Madekwe and Kate Walsh. The drama revolves around a dysfunctional family of superheroes who come together to solve the mystery of their father’s death, the threat of the apocalypse and more.

Jordan Gagne to Score ABC’s ‘The Rookie’
Jordan Gagne has been tapped to score the upcoming ABC drama The Rookie. The show is created by Alexi Hawley (Castle, The Following) and stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Afton Williamson and Eric Winter. The series follows a middle-aged small-town guy who moves to L.A. to pursue his dream of being a cop. Hawley is also executive producing the Entertainment One (eOne) and ABC Studios production with Fillion, Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan, Speed, Grey’s Anatomy), Michelle Chapman and Jon Steinberg, as well as Liz Friedlander (Conviction) who also directed the first episode.
‘For All We Know’ & ‘Home’ Covers from FX’s ‘Pose’ Released
20th Century Fox TV Records has released two songs featured in tonight’s episode (Love is the Message) of the FX original series Pose, including actors Billy Porter‘ and MJ Rodriguez‘ performance of the Charlie Smalls-composed song Home from the musical The Wiz. Premiering tonight is the HBO limited series Sharp Objects developed by Marti Noxon based on the novel of the same title by Gillian Flynn, directed by Jean-Marc Valle and starring Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins, and Matt Craven. The show doesn’t feature an original score. Susan Jacobs who previously collaborated with Vallee on HBO’s Big Little Lies serves as the project’s music supervisor. The series follows a reporter who confronts the psychological demons from her past when she returns to her hometown to cover a violent murder. Premiering on Friday, July 13, is the Netflix original movie How It Ends directed by David M. Rosenthal and starring Theo James, Forest Whitaker and Kat Graham. The film’s original music is composed by Atli Orvarsson (The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Vantage Point, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Chicago Fire, Babylon A.D.). Will Bates to Score Syfy’s & Netflix’s ‘Nightflyers’
Will Bates is composing the music for the upcoming Syfy original series Nightflyers. The show is developed by Jeff Buhler (Pet Sematary, Jacob’s Ladder) based on George R.R. Martin’s novella and the 1987 film of the same name and stars Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, Angus Sampson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Brian F. O’Byrne and Gretchen Mol. The drama is set in the year 2093 and follows a team of scientists aboard the Nightflyer, the most advanced ship ever built, as they embark on a journey to find other life forms.
‘Cloak & Dagger’ Score Album Details
The full details of the first score album for Marvel’s Freeform original series Cloak & Dagger have been revealed. The album features selections from the original score of the show’s first season composed by Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, The Accountant, Blade, Miracle, 42). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, July 6 by Marvel Music and Hollywood Records and will be available to download on Amazon. A separate soundtrack featuring songs from the series has previously been released last month. Season 1 of Cloak & Dagger created by Joe Pokaski based on the Marvel Comic characters by Bill Mantlo & Ed Hannigan and starring Olivia Holt, Aubrey Joseph, Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, James Saito and J.D. Evermore currently airs every Thursday night on Freeform.
Sky’s ‘Das Boot’ Sequel Series to Feature Theme by Klaus Doldinger & Score by Matthias Weber
Sky Germany and Bavaria Fiction have announced today that Matthias Weber is the composer of the Sky original limited series Das Boot and incorporated the classic theme from Wolfgang Petersen’s original 1981 Das Boot movie and the 1985 mini-series of the same title written by Klaus Doldinger into his score. The new show is directed by Andreas Prochaska and stars Vicky Krieps, Lizzy Caplan, Jonathan Zaccaϊ, Leonard Scheicher, Robert Stadlober, Tom Wlaschiha, Franz Dinda, Rick Okon, August Wittgenstein, Vincent Kartheiser, James D’Arcy, Thierry Frémont, Rainer Bock and Stefan Konarske.
‘Nashville’ Season 6 – Volume 2 Soundtrack Details
Big Machine Records has announced the details of the final soundtrack album for the CMT original series Nashville. The album features the songs from the second half of the show’s sixth and final season performed by cast members including Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Maisy Stella, Chris Carmack, Rainee Blake, Ilse DeLange, Ronny Xox and Jake Etheridge. The Season 6 – Volume 2 is set to be released on July 27, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released multiple soundtracks for the previous five seasons, as well as an album featuring the songs from the first half of the sixth season.

The movie revolves around the star of hunting videos who strives to bond with his 12-year-old son on a wilderness trip but learns familial connections can’t be forced. The comedy premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Bob Thiele Jr. Scoring FX’s ‘Mayans M.C.’
Bob Thiele Jr. is scoring the upcoming Sons of Anarchy spin-off series Mayans M.C. The show is created by Kurt Sutter & Elgin James and stars JD Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Michael Irby, Carla Baratta, Antonio Jaramillo, Raoul Max Trujillo, Richard Cabral and Danny Pino. The drama is set in a post-Jax Teller world and follows Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes as he is fresh out of prison and a prospect in the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border and must carve out his new identity in a town where he was once the golden boy.
