The film directed by Isabel Coixet (Elegy, The Secret Life of Words) and stars Ben Kingsley & Patricia Clarkson. The movie follows a Manhattan writer who finds solace in her biweekly lessons with a Sikh driving instructor after her husband leaves her. Sarah Kernochan (Sommersby, Nine 1/2 Weeks) has written the screenplay based on Katha Pollitt’s 2002 essay for The New Yorker. Dana Friedman and Daniel Hammond are producing the Broad Green Pictures production. Academy Award winner Thelma Schoonmaker (The Departed, The Aviator, Raging Bull) serves as the film’s editor.

Andrew Lockington to Score ‘San Andreas’
Andrew Lockington is set to reunite with director Brad Peyton on the upcoming action adventure distaster movie San Andreas. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Carla Gugino, Colton Haynes, Art Parkinson, Archie Panjabi, Todd Williams, Ioan Gruffudd, Will Yun Lee and Kylie Minogue. The movie follows a rescue-helicopter pilot and his ex-wife who attempt to leave Los Angeles and head to San Francisco to find and rescue their estranged daughter after an earthquake hits California. Allan Loeb (21, Just Go With It), Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel), Carey Hayes & Chad Hayes (The Conjuring) have written the screenplay based on the original script by Jeremy Passmore & Andre Fabrizio.
Antony Partos to Score Ramin Bahrani’s ’99 Homes’
Antony Partos is composing the music for the upcoming indie drama 99 Homes. The film is directed by Ramin Bahrani (Goodbye Solo) and stars Andrew Garfield, Michael Shannon and Laura Dern. The movie follows an unemployed construction worker who joins an unscrupulous realtor in the dirty business of foreclosing on the disenfranchised in order to save his family home. Bahrani has written the screenplay with Amir Naderi & Bahareh Azimi. The director and Garfield are also producing the Hyde Park Entertainment production with Ashok Amritraj (Walking Tall, Life of Crime, Bandits) and Justin Nappi (Arbitrage, All Is Lost). Partos’ previous film scoring credits include David Michod’s Animal Kingdom and The Rover. He also composed music for Anne Fontaine’s Adore.
Dickon Hinchliffe to Score ‘The Reach’
Dickon Hinchliffe has been tapped to score the upcoming thriller The Reach. The film is directed by Jean-Baptiste Leonetti and stars Michael Douglas, Jeremy Irvine, Hannah Mangan, Lawrence and Ronny Cox. The movie is based on the 1972 novel Deathwatch by Robb White and follows a businessman and big game hunter in pursuit of his ultimate prize who hires a college student to lead him into the American desert. Stephen Susco (The Grudge, Texas Chainsaw 3D) has written the screenplay and Douglas is also producing the project with Robert Mitas. Hinchliffe’s recent scoring credits include the critically acclaimed drama Locke starring Tom Hardy and last year’s Out of the Furnace starring Christian Bale & Casey Affleck.
LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy Scoring Noah Baumbach’s ‘While We’re Young’
LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy is composing the music for the upcoming comedy drama While We’re Young. The movie is directed by Noah Baumbach (The Squirrel and the Whale, Frances Ha) and stars Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Driver and Charles Grodin. The film follows a frustrated middle-aged filmmaker and his wife whose career and marriage are overturned when a disarming young couple enters their lives. Baumbach is also producing the project with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network, Captain Phillips), Lila Yacoub (Frances Ha) and Eli Bush. Murphy has previously collaborated with Baumbach on 2010’s Greenberg starring Ben Stiller.
Marco Beltrami to Score ‘True Story’
Marco Beltrami has signed on to score the upcoming drama True Story. The film is directed by Rupert Goold and stars Jonah Hill, James Franco, Felicity Jones, Ethan Suplee and Gretchen Mol. The movie is based on journalist Michael Finkel’s memoirs about the relationship between Finkel and Christian Longo, a Most Wanted List murderer who for years lived outside the U.S. under Finkel’s name. David Kajganich (The Invasion) has written the screenplay. Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (12 Years a Slave, The Tree of Life, Killing Them Softly) are producing the Plan B Entertainment and New Regency Pictures production.
Daniel Pemberton to Score Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’
Daniel Pemberton has been hired to score the upcoming film adaptation of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Debicki, Luca Calvani and Jared Harris. The spy action comedy is based on the 1960 television series and tells the origin story of the first pairing of the two spies — one American, one Russian – who up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. Ritchie has also written the screenplay with Lionel Wigram (Sherlock Holmes) who is producing the project with John Davis (Predator, The Firm, I, Robot, Chronicle). Pemberton’s previous scoring credits include Ridley Scott’s The Counselor, the horror thriller The Awakening, this year’s comedy Cuban Fury and the British comedy series Peep Show.
Robert Rodriguez & Carl Thiel Scoring ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’
Robert Rodriguez and Carl Thiel have composed the music for the upcoming Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. The movie is directed by Rodriguez & Frank Miller and stars Jessica Alba, Powers Booth, Josh Brolin, Rosario Dawson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eva Green, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis. The film weaves together two of Frank Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. Rodriguez is also producing the project with Sergei Bespalov (Chef), Aaron Kaufman, Stephen L’Heureux, Alexander Rodnyansky (Stalingrad) and Mark C. Manuel.
Edward Shearmur to Score Peter Bogdanovich’s ‘Squirrels to the Nuts’
Edward Shearmur has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming comedy Squirrels to the Nuts. The film is directed by Peter Bogdanovich (The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon) and stars Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, Kathryn Hahn, Imogen Poots, Will Forte, Rhys Ifans, Lucy Punch, Cybill Shepherd, Ahna O’Reilly and Jake Hoffman. The movie follows a married Broadway director who meets a call girl and tries to convince her to change her life. Bogdanavich has co-written the script with Louise Stratten and Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Royal Tenenbaums) is producing the project with Noah Baumbach (Greenberg, Frances Ha), Holly Wiersma (Bobby), Logan Levy and music supervisor George Drakoulias.
Carter Burwell to Score Bill Condon’s ‘Mr. Holmes’
Carter Burwell is set to reunite with director Bill Condon on the upcoming drama Mr. Holmes. The film stars Ian McKellan as Sherlock Holmes at age 93, as well as Laura Linney, Hattie Morahan, Patrick Kennedy, Hiroyuki Sanada, Roger Allam, Phil Davis, Frances de la Tour and Milo Parker. The movie is set in 1947, when an ageing Holmes returns from a journey to Japan and faces the end of his days, tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son. Jeffrey Hatcher (The Duchess, Casanova) has written the screenplay based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin.
