Composer Johan Söderqvist is reuniting with director Susanne Bier on the upcoming drama Serena. The film is set in 1920s North Carolina and stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper as two newlyweds who battle the state government to stop it requisitioning their land as part of a national park. Toby Jones, Rhys Ifans and Sean Harris are co-starring. Christopher Kyle (K-19: The Widowmaker, Alexander) has written the screenplay based on a novel by Ron Rash. Nick Wechsler (Magic Mike, The Road), Todd Wagner & Mark Cuban (Deadfall), Ben Cosgrove (The Good German), Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz (Killing Them Softly, The Road) are producing the 2929 Entertainment production. The project marks the tenth collaboration between Bier and the Swedish composer (Let the Right One In) following such films as In a Better World, After the Wedding, Things We Lost in the Fire and this year’s Love Is All You Need, which is set to be released in the US by Sony Pictures Classics. Serena is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2013.

As previously reported, Söderqvist has also scored the Norwegian epic drama Kon-Tiki, which recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and has been selected as the the Norwegian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards. No word yet on a domestic release for the film.
