Stephen Warbeck has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Forger. The film is directed by Philip Martin (Wallander) and stars John Travolta, Christopher Plummer, Tye Sheridan, Jennifer Ehle, Anson Mount, Abigail Spencer and Marcus Thomas. The movie follows a second-generation petty thief who arranges to buy his way out of prison to spend time with his ailing son and reteams with his father to carry out one last big job for the syndicate. Richard D’Ovidio (The Call, Exit Wounds) has written the screenplay. Al Corley & Bart Rosenblatt (You Kill Me, Drowning Mona) are producing the project for Coce Entertainment, alongsid Lisa Wilson & Myles Nestel (Laggies) for Solution Entertainment Group and Rob Carliner (Crazy Heart, The Apostle).

Danny Elfman to Return for ‘Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass’
Walt Disney Pictures has confirmed today that Danny Elfman will be returning to score the upcoming fantasy adventure sequel Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass. The film is directed by James Bobin (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted) and stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Rhys Ifans, Matt Lucas, Ed Speleer and Sacha Baron Cohen. The movie’s voice cast includes Stephen Fry, Toby Jones, Alan Rickman, Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, Paul Whitehouse and Barbara Windsor. The sequel revisits Lewis Carroll’s stories with an all-new new tale that travels back to Underland – and back in Time. Linda Woolverton (Maleficent, The Lion King) has written the screenplay.
David Ludwig Scoring Michael Almereyda’s ‘Cymbeline’
Classical music composer David Ludwig has written the original score for the upcoming drama Cymbeline. The film is directed by Michael Almereyda and stars Milla Jovovich, Ed Harris, Dakota Johnson, Penn Badgley, Anton Yelchin, Ethan Hawke, John Leguizamo and Bill Pullman. The movie is a modern take on the Shakespeare play of the same title and portrays a battle between dirty cops and a drug-dealing biker gang set against the backdrop of a corruption-riddled 21st century America. Anthony Katagas (12 Years a Slave, Killing Them Softly) is producing the project for Keep Your Head Productions alongside Michael Benaroya (Margin Call, Lawless, The Words) for Benaroya Pictures.
Nicola Piovani to Score ‘Hungry Hearts’
Nicola Piovani is composing the music for the upcoming drama Hungry Hearts. The film is written and directed by Saverio Costanzo (Private, In Memory of Myself) and stars Adam Driver, Alba Rohrwacher and Roberta Maxwell. The movie follows a young married couple in New York City that engages in a fateful struggle over the life of their newborn child. Mario Gianani (Vincere, Me and You) and Lorenzo Mieli (In Treatment) are producing the project. Costanzo’s last feature The Solitude of Prime Numbers featured a score by Mike Patton.
James Horner to Score ‘Aviation: The Invisible Highway’
James Horner is scoring the upcoming documentary Aviation: The Invisible Highway. The movie is directed by filmmaker and pilot Brian J. Terwilliger (One Six Right) and tells the story about how the airplane has changed the world and how it affected our society by spreading culture, bringing together family and friends, and creating value for the global economy. Harrison Ford is narrating the documentary, which was filmed in 18 countries across all 7 continents. Horner is a pilot himself and part of a team known as The Horsemen, a trio of aerobatic pilots who fly in tribute to those who flew fighting for their country. The Academy Award-winning composer has previously written the an orchestral piece for the team, which has played at various air shows.
Susanne Bier’s ‘A Second Chance’ to Feature Music by Johan Söderqvist
Johan Söderqvist is reteaming with Susanne Bier on the upcoming drama A Second Chance (En chance til). The Danish/Swedish co-production stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Ulrich Thomsen, Maria Bonnevie, Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Lykke May Andersen. The film follows a veteran police with a wife and new baby who makes a fateful decision when he is brought back into contact with a pair of junkie parents. Anders Thomas Jensen has written the screenplay and Sisse Graum Jørgensen is producing the Zentropa production. The Academy Award-winning director has previously collaborated with the composer on numerous projects, including In a Better World, Brothers and Love Is All You Need. He also scored Bier’s Serena starring Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Lawrence, which is still awaiting a premiere date.
Ilan Eshkeri Scoring Kevin Macdonald’s ‘Black Sea’
Ilan Eshkeri has recently recorded his score for the upcoming thriller Black Sea. The film is directed by Kevin Macdonald and stars Jude Law, Grigoriy Dobrygin, Konstantin Khabenskiy, Sergey Kolesnikov, Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Sergey Puskepalis, Michael Smile, David Threlfall and Jodie Whittaker. The movie follows a rogue submarine captain who, after being laid off from a salvage company, pulls together a misfit crew to go after a sunken treasure rumored to be lost in the depths of the Black Sea. Dennis Kelly (Utopia) has written the screenplay. Macdonald is also producing the project with Charles Steel (Marley) for Cowboy Films. The director has previously collaborated with such composers as Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, State of Play), Atli Orvarsson (The Eagle) and Jon Hopkins (How I Live Now).
Bear McCreary to Score NBC’s ‘Constantine’
It was announced this evening at Comic-Con that Bear McCreary is scoring the upcoming NBC drama Constantine. The show is developed by Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist, Dexter) & David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Rises) and stars Matt Ryan, Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford. The drama is based on the comic book series Hellblazer from DC Comics and follows seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine who is armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly naughty wit. Cerone and Goyer are also producing the project for Bonanza Productions and Warner Bros. Television. McCreary has previously collaborated with Goyer on the Starz original series Da Vinci’s Demons. Neil Marshall (The Descent, Centurion) has directed the pilot episode. Constantine is set to premiere on October 24, 2014 and will air every Friday night on NBC.
Chris Westlake to Score Chris Evans’ ‘Before We Go’
Chris Westlake has been hired to score the upcoming romance Before We Go. The film marks the directorial debut of Chris Evans who also stars in the film alongside Alice Eve. The movie, which was originally entitled 1:30 Train, is set in Manhattan and follows two strangers after their serendipitous meeting in Grand Central who form an unlikely bond and the conflicts in their own lives become the basis for exploration into each other and themselves. Ron Bass (Rain Man, Entrapment), Jen Smolka, Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair have written the screenplay. Evans is also producing the project with McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator: Salvation), Mary Viola, Mark Kassen (Puncture), William J. Immerman, Karen & Howard Baldwin (Ray, Sahara).
Hans Zimmer to Return for ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’
According to Hans-Zimmer.com, Hans Zimmer will return to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming sequel Kung Fu Panda 3. The film is directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson who previously helmed the second part in the series and features the voice talent of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Bryan Cranston, Mads Mikkelsen and Rebel Wilson. The movie continues the journey of Po as he is mastering the art of Kung Fu and faces two threats: one supernatural and the other a little closer to home. Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger (Monsters vs. Aliens) who penned the previous two movies have written the screenplay. Melissa Cobb is producing the project and Guillermo del Toro serves as an as executive producer.
