James Lavelle has composed the music for the upcoming drama Shelter. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Paul Bettany and stars Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Mackie. The movie follows two people from very different worlds who find strength and solace in each other while being homeless on the streets of New York. Bettany has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Katie Mustard, Daniel Wagner (Reasonable Doubt) and Robert Ogden Barnum (Margin Call, Hateship Loveship). Lavelle is best known as a member and co-founder of the trip hop group UNKLE whose music has been featured in such films as The Beach, Trance, 21 and Push.

Brian Byrne Scoring François Girard’s ‘Boychoir’
Brian Byrne is scoring the upcoming drama Boychoir. The film is directed by François Girard and stars Dustin Hoffman, Kathy Bates, Josh Lucas, Kevin McHale, Eddie Izzard, Debra Winger and Garrett Wareing. The movie follows an orphaned 12-year-old boy who is sent to a prestigious music school where he struggles to join an elite group of world-class singers and clashes with the school’s demanding choir master. Ben Ripley (Source Code0 has written the script. Judy Cairo (Crazy Heart, Hysteria, Stuck in Love), Carol Baum (Father of the Bride, Fly Away Home) and Jane Goldenring are producing the Informant Media production.
Christophe Beck Scoring Daniel Barnz’s ‘Cake’
Christophe Beck has composed the music for the upcoming drama Cake. The film is directed by Daniel Barnz and stars Jennifer Aniston, Anna Kendrick, William H. Macy, Adriana Barraza, Felicity Huffman, Sam Worthington, Chris Messina and Mamie Gummer. The movie follows a woman in a chronic-pain support group who begins to investigate the suicide of a fellow group member and develops an unexpected relationship with the woman’s husband. Patrick Tobin has written the screenplay. Ben Barnz, Mark Canton, Kristin Hahn, Courtney Solomon are producing the Cinelou Films production. Beck has previously scored Barnz’s 2008 feature Phoebe in Wonderland starring Elle Fanning.
Ludovico Einaudi to Score Olivier Nakache’s & Eric Toledano’s ‘Samba’
Ludovico Einaudi is reteaming with directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano on the upcoming French drama Samba. The film stars Omar Sy, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Tahar Rahim and Izia Higelin. The movie follows a recent migrant to France who fights to stay in his adopted country with the help of a rookie immigration worker. Nackache & Toleedano have also written the screenplay. Yann Zenou, Laurent Zeitoun & Nicolas Duval-Adassovsky (Heartbreaker, A Perfect Plan) are producing the Quad Films, Ten Films and Gaumont production. Einaudi has previously scored the filmmakers’ previous feature The Intouchables, which became one of the all time highest-grossing movies in France in 2011. Samba is set to world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
David Newman to Score Richard Loncraine’s ‘Ruth & Alex’
David Newman is composing the music for the upcoming drama Ruth & Alex. The movie is directed by Richard Loncraine and stars Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton, Michael Cristofer, Cynthia Nixon, Claire Vanderboom, Korey Jackson, Carrie Preston, Sterling Jerins, Josh Pais and Miriam Shor. The film follows a long-married couple during an eventful weekend after they are forced to contemplate selling their beloved Brooklyn apartment. Charlie Peters (Three Men and a Little Lady, My Father the Hero) has written the screenplay based on a novel by Jill Cement. Charlie Peters is also producing the project with Lori McCreary (Invictus, The Magic of Belle Isle), Curtis Burch (Words and Pictures) and Tracy Mercer (Madam Secretary).

Christophe Beck has been tapped to score the upcoming drama Good Kill. The film is written and directed by Andrew Niccol and stars Ethan Hawke, January Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Jake Abel and Bruce Greenwood. The movie follows a troubled Air Force officer who is charged with directing drone strikes and enters a moral minefield as the rationale for targeting purported terrorists becomes ever more murky. Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, The Company You Keep), Zev Foreman and Mark Amin (Filth) are producing the Voltage Pictures production. Beck has previously co-scored the indie drama Charlie Countryman for Voltage.
John Debney to Score Jon Favreau’s ‘The Jungle Book’
John Debney is attached to score Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming film adaptation of The Jungle Book. The movie is directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Cowboys & Aliens) and stars Neel Sethi as Mowgli. The film’s voice talent includes Bill Murray as Baloo, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha and Christopher Walken as King Louie. The project is a combination of live-action and animation and tells the classic story of an orphan boy who is raised in the Jungle with the help of a pack of wolves, a bear and a black panther. Justin Marks has written the screenplay. Debney has previously collaborated with Favreau on such films as Elf, Iron Man 2 and Zathura.
Alan Silvestri to Score Robert Zemeckis’ ‘The Walk’
TriStar Pictures has announced that Alan Silvestri is reuniting with Robert Zemeckis on the upcoming drama The Walk. The movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, Ben Schwartz, Charlotte Le Bon, Clément Sibony and César Domboy. The film is based on Philippe Petit’s book To Reach the Clouds and tells the true story of the French high-wire artist’s attempt to cross the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. Zemeckis wrote the screenplay with Christopher Browne and is also producing the project with Steve Starkey (Forrest Gump, Contact) and Jack Rapke (Cast Away, Flight, Matchstick Men).
‘Search Party’ to Feature Music by Craig Wedren
Craig Wedren has composed the score for the upcoming comedy Search Party. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter/producer Scot Armstrong (Old School, Road Trip, Starsky & Hutch) and stars T.J. Miller, Adam Pally, Thomas Middleditch, Lance Reddick, Shannon Woodward, Alison Brie and Krysten Ritter. The movie centers around two roommates who go to serious lengths to save their friend who is stranded somewhere in Mexico. Armstrong has also co-written the screenplay with Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller. Paul Brooks (Pitch Perfect, Life As We Know It, Slither) is producing the project for Gold Circle Films, alongside Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious series, I Am Legend, 21 Jump Street) for Original Film, as well as Armstrong and Ravi Nandan for American Work.
Ilan Eshkeri to Score James McTeigue’s ‘Survivor’
Ilan Eshkeri is set to reteam with director James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, The Raven) on the upcoming thriller Survivor. The movie stars Milla Jovovich, Pierce Brosnan, Dylan McDermott, Angela Bassett and Robert Forster. The film follows a State Department employee who is newly posted to the American embassy in London, where she is given responsibility for stopping terrorists from getting into the US. Philip Shelby has written the screenplay. Irwin Winkler (Rocky, Goodfellas, Life as a House) is producing the project with Charles Winkler (Rocky Balboa, De-Lovely, Boaz Davidson (The Legend of Hercules) and Matt O’Toole (Before I Go to Sleep. Eshkeri has previously scored McTeigue’s 2009 feature Ninja Assassin.
