Max Richter has signed on to score the upcoming historical drama Testament of Youth. The film is directed by James Kent (The Thirteenth Tale) and stars Alicia Vikander, Kit Harrington, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan, Joanna Scanlan, Hayley Atwell, Jonathan Bailey and Alexandra Roach. The movie is based on the autobiography of Vera Brittain and tells the story of the British writer and pacifist who postponed her studies at Oxford University during World War I to serve as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse in London, France and Malta. Juliette Towhidi (Calendar Girls) has written the screenplay. David Heyman (Harry Potter series, Gravity, I Am Legend) and Rosie Alison are producing the Heyday Films and BBC Films production.

Jóhann Jóhannsson to Score Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Sicario’
Jóhann Jóhannsson is reteaming with director Denis Villeneuve (Incendies, Enemy) to score the upcoming crime drama Sicario. The film stars Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Jon Bernthal and Jeffrey Donovan. The movie follows an officer from Tucson, Arizona who travels to Mexico with a pair of mercenaries to track down a drug lord. Actor Taylor Sheridan wrote the screenplay and Basil Iwanyk (The Town, Clash of the Titans) is producing the Black Label Media and Thunder Road Pictures production with Molly Smith (P.S. I Love You, Beautiful Creatures), Trent Luckinbill & Thad Luckinbill (The Good Lie) and Ed McDonnell (Three Kings, Insomnia). Academy Award nominee Roger Deakins (The Shawshank Redemption, No Country for Old Men, Skyfall) serves as the film’s director of photography.
Henry Jackman to Return for Marvel’s ‘Captain America 3’
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have confirmed in a recent interview with Comicbook.com that Henry Jackman will return to score Marvel Studios’ Captain America 3. Chris Evans is returning to star in the title role as Steve Roger in the currently untitled sequel. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (The Chronicles of Narnia series, Thor: The Dark World) who penned the previous installment in the series are writing the screenplay. No plot details have been announced yet. Kevin Feige (The Avengers, Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) is once again producing the project for Marvel. Jackman previously scored this year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier for the Russo brothers while the first Captain America movie directed by Joe Johnston was scored by Alan Silvestri.
Rob Simonsen to Score ‘Master Cleanse’
Director Bobby Miller announced on Twitter that Rob Simonsen is scoring the upcoming horror comedy Master Cleanse. The film is written and directed by Miller and stars Johnny Galecki, Anna Friel, Oliver Platt and Anjelica Huston. The movie follows a man who decides to restart his life, joining a spiritual retreat designed to cleanse negative toxins from his body. Jordan Horowitz (The Kids Are All Right, Save the Date) is producing the project for Gilbert Films, alongside Aaron L. Gilbert (A Single Shot, Trust Me) for Bron Studios and Galecki for Alcide Bava Pictures. Master Cleanse is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2015.
Ludwig Göransson & Questlove to Score Chris Rock’s ‘Top Five’
Ludwig Göransson and Questlove have been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Top Five. The film is written and directed by Chris Rock who also stars in the movie alongside Rosario Dawson, J.B. Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Jay Pharoah, Anders Holm and Michael Che. The movie tells the story of a New York City comedian-turned-film star whose unexpected encounter with a journalist forces him to confront both the career that made him famous and the life he left behind. Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network, Captain Phillips) is producing the project with Eli Bush.
Craig Armstrong to Score Paul McGuigan’s ‘Frankenstein’
Director Paul McGuigan announced on Twitter that Craig Armstrong will be composing the music for the upcoming horror thriller Frankenstein. The film based on a number of contemporary adaptations of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel of the same title stars Daniel Radcliffe as hunchback Igor and James McAvoy as Victor Frankenstein. Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott and Mark Gatiss are co-starring. No plot details have been announced yet. Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra) has written the screenplay and John Davis (Predator, I, Robot, Waterworld, The Blacklist) is producing the project for Davis Entertainment.
Bibio to Score Jason Reitman’s ‘Men, Women & Children’
Bibio is composing the original music for the upcoming drama Men, Women & Children. The film is directed by Jason Reitman and stars Rosemarie DeWitt, Adam Sandler, Kaitlyn Dever, Ansel Elgort, Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, Elena Kampouris, Emma Thompson, J.K. Simmons and Dean Norris. The movie follows a group of teenagers and their parents as they attempt to navigate the many ways the internet has changed their relationships, their communication, their self-image, and their love lives. Reitman has co-written the screenplay with Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary, Chloe) based on a novel by Chad Kultgen. He is also producing the project with Helen Estabrook (Whiplash, Labor Day). The project marks the film scoring debut of Bibio aka Stephen Wilkinson who is best known as a producer of electronic and experimental music.

Keefus Ciancia has composed the music for the horror thriller As Above, So Below. The film is co-written and directed by John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine) and stars Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge, Francois Civil, Marion Lambert, Ali Marhyar, Cosme Castro and Hamidreza Javdan. The movie follows a team of explorers that ventures into the catacombs that lie beneath the streets of Paris and uncovers a dark secret. Thomas Tull (Godzilla, Pacific Rim, 42) is producing the Legendary Picturs production with Jon Jashni (Shopgirl), Drew Dowdle (Quarantine) and Patrick Aiello (The Double).
Frederik Wiedmann to Score Paul Schrader’s ‘Dying of the Light’
Frederik Wiedmann is composing the music for the upcoming thriller Dying of the Light. The film is written and directed by Paul Schrader and stars Nicolas Cage, Anton Yelchin and Irene Jacob. The movie follows a former CIA agent embarking on a global manhunt for his long-standing nemesis, while simultaneously battling an aggressive form of Alzheimer’s Disease. Todd Williams, Scott Clayton and Gary Hirsch are producing the Over Under Media and Red Granite Pictures production. Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Only God Forgives) and Steve Schwartz (The Road, The Counselor) are executive producing the project.

Rael Jones has recently composed the music for the upcoming drama Suite Francaise. The film is directed by Saul Dibb (The Duchess) and stars Michelle Williams, Matthias Schoenaerts, Kristin Scott Thomas, Margot Robbie, Sam Riley, Ruth Wilson, Alexandra Maria Lara, Tom Schilling and Lambert Wilson. The movie based on the works of Irène Némirovsky follows a young woman in Nazi-occupied France who ends up falling in love with a German officer. Dibb and Matt Charman have co-written the screenplay and Xavier Marchand, Romain Brémond, Nichael Kuhn and Andrea Cornwell are producing the project.
