Marc Streitenfeld is set to score the upcoming drama Lowriders. The film will be directed by Ricardo de Montreuil and is set to star Melissa Benoist, Demian Bichir, Eva Longoria, Tony Revolori, Gabriel Chavarria, Theo Rossi and Yvette Monreal. The movie follows a teenager caught between his traditional father and estranged gangbanger brother who are both competing in the annual lowrider “Supershow.” Josh Bierne-Gordon and Justin Tippin have written the screenplay based on previous drafts by Cheo Hodari Coker and Elgin James.

Michael Andrews has been tapped to score the upcoming comedy Dirty Grandpa. The film is directed by Dan Mazer (Da Ali G Show, I Give It a Year) and stars Zac Efron, Robert De Niro, Zoey Deutch, Aubrey Plaza, Dermot Mulroney, Julianne Hough, Adam Pally and Jason Mantzoukas. The movie follows an uptight groom who, just before his wedding, is tricked into driving his vulgar former Army general to Florida for spring break. John Phillips wrote the screenplay.
‘Pay the Ghost’ to Feature Music by Joseph LoDuca
Joseph LoDuca has recently composed the music for the upcoming supernatural thriller Pay the Ghost. The film is directed by Uli Edel (The Baader Meinhof Complex, Hotel Adlon) and stars Nicolas Cage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Veronica Ferres, Jack Fulton and Elizabeth Jeanne le Roux. The movie is based on a short story by Tim Lebbon and follows a hard-working NYU English professor bucking for tenure when his 8-year-old son mysteriously vanishes from a Halloween day parade. Daniel Kay (Timber Falls) wrote the screenplay. Ian Levy, Craig Flores (Charlie Countryman) and Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, Killer Joe, Good Kill) are producing the Voltage Pictures production.

Marcelo Zarvos is reteaming with Barry Levinson on the upcoming comedy Rock the Kasbah. The film stars Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Danny McBride, Scott Caan and Zooey Deschanel. The movie follows a has-been rock manager who takes his last remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan, where he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice and manages her through Afghanistan’s version of American Idol, the wildly popular Afghan Star. Mitch Glazer (Scrooged, The Recruit, Magic City) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with QED’s Bill Block (Fury, Elysium, W.), Venture Forth’s Jacob Pechenik (The Skeleton Twins and Shangri-La Entertainment’s Steve Bing.
Johnny Klimek & Tom Tykwer Scoring ‘A Hologram for the King’ and Netflix’s ‘Sense8’
Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer are composing the score for the upcoming comedy drama A Hologram for the King. The film is directed by Tykwer (Run Lola Run, The International) and stars Tom Hanks, Sarita Choudhury, Omar Elba, Tracey Fairaway, David Menkin and Tom Skerritt. The movie is based on the novel by Dave Eggers takes place in an up-and-coming Saudi Arabian city that provides the backdrop for a foundering American businessman’s last-ditch effort to stave off bankruptcy, pay his daughters college fees, and finally accomplish something big. Tykwer also wrote the screenplay.

Mario Grigorov has signed on to score the upcoming action adventure Tarzan. The film is directed by David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and stars Alexander Skarsgård in the title role, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, Djimon Hounsou, John Hurt and Christoph Waltz. The movie based on the classic story and characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs takes place years after Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke and is invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge.
Howard Shore to Score Disney’s ‘Pete’s Dragon’
Howard Shore is set to score Disney’s upcoming remake of Pete’s Dragon. The film is directed by David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) and stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The movie is based on the 1977 classic and tells the story of the special bond between an orphaned boy, Pete, and his best friend, Elliott, who just happens to be a dragon. Lowery also co-wrote the screenplay with Toby Halbrooks. Jim Whitaker (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Finest Hours) is producing the project and Barrie Osborne (The Lord of the Rings, Face/Off) serves as an executive producer.

Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans have been tapped to score the upcoming thriller The Gift. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Joel Edgerton who also stars in the movie alongside Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall The movie follows a couple who seek to reinvigorate their relationship with a fresh beginning in a new town, only to be have their life disrupted by an acquaintance from the husband’s past. Edgerton also wrote the screenplay. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge) is producing the film through his Blumhouse production company with Rebecca Yeldman (The Kite Runner, On the Run).
Alexandre Desplat to Score Tom Hooper’s ‘The Danish Girl’
Alexandre Desplat is officially set to reunite with Tom Hooper on the upcoming drama The Danish Girl. The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander, Matthias Schoenaerts, Ben Whishaw and Amber Heard. The movie is inspired by the lives of artists Einar and Gerda Wegener, whose marriage and work are cast into the unknown when Einar begins a groundbreaking journey to become one of the world’s first transgender women, Lili Elbe. Hooper is also producing the Working Title Films production with Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonement, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Love Actually), Gail Mutrux (Kinsey, Donnie Brasco) for Pretty Pictures and Anne Harrison (Two Family House) for Harrison Productions.

Brian Tyler is reteaming with director D.J. Caruso on the upcoming horror thriller The Disappointments Room. The film stars Kate Beckinsale, Gerald McRaney, Lucas Till and Mel Raido. The movie is inspired by a true story and follows a wife and mother who moves into a beautiful old rural home and discovers a secret room hidden within the attic. Wentworth Miler (Prison Break, Stoker) wrote the screenplay. Geyer Kosinski (Fargo TV series, Bad News Bears) is producing the project.
