Henry Jackman is returning as the composer of the upcoming adventure sequel Jumanji: The Next Level. The film is directed by Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Orange County) and stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Danny Glover and Danny DeVito. Jon Ekstrand has been tapped to score the upcoming comic book movie Morbius. The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and stars Jared Leto, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris and Tyrese Gibson. The movie is based on the Marvel Comics character created by Roy Thomas & Gil Kane and centers on biochemist Michael Morbius as he tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease and inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead. Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (Lost in Space) wrote the screenplay.

Composer Arturo Sandoval is reuniting with Clint Eastwood on the upcoming drama Richard Jewell. The film directed by Eastwood stars Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, Olivia Wilde, as well as Paul Walter Hauser in the title role. The movie tells the story of American security guard, Richard Jewell, who heroically saves thousands of lives from an exploding bomb at the 1996 Olympics, but is unjustly vilified by journalists and the press who falsely report that he was a terrorist. Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games) wrote the screenplay.

This week, Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth, Wrath of the Titans, Greta, The Devil’s Backbone) is recording his orchestral score for the upcoming drama Sound of Freedom. The film is directed by Alejandro Monteverde (Bella, Little Boy) and stars Jim Caviezel, Mira Sorvino, Eduardo Verastegui and Bill Camp. The movie tells the true story of Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard’s effort to rescue kidnapped children. Monteverde also co-wrote the screenplay with Rod Barr and Verastegui is also producing the project.

Daniel Pemberton to Score Cathy Yan’s ‘Birds of Prey’
Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Ocean’s 8) has been hired to score the upcoming superhero movie Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The film is directed by Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) and stars Margot Robbie who is reprising her role as Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad. She is joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett, Ewan McGregor, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco and Ali Wong. Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) wrote the screenplay based on the DC Comics title created by Jordan B. Gorfinkel & Chuck Dixon.
