The film is directed by Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler, Shadowboxer) and stars Andra Day, Trevante Rhodes, Garrett Hedlund, Natasha Lyonne, Evan Ross, Dana Gourrier, Erik LaRay Harvey and Melvin Gregg. The movie is inspired by by Johann Hari’s 2015 New York Time bestseller Chasing the Scream: The First and Last Days of the War on Drugs and centers on jazz singer Billie Holiday during her career as she is targeted by the Federal Department of Narcotics with an undercover sting operation. Ben Lovett (The Signal, The Ritual, Synchronicity, The Wind, Black Rock, Don Peyote) has been tapped to score the upcoming thriller Masquerade. The film is written and directed by Shane Dax Taylor (Bloodworth, Isolation) and stars Bella Thorne, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Austin Nichols, Mircea Monroe and Skyler Samuels. The movie revolves around an 11-year-old girl who must survive the night after a group of intruders break into her family’s home to steal priceless artwork. Taylor is also producing the project with Steven Schneider (Pet Sematary, Blair Witch) and Kenneth Burke (Soul Surfer).
Lorne Balfe Scoring Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’
Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, The Crown, Bad Boys for Life) has recently been scoring Marvel Studios’ upcoming spy thriller Black Widow. The film is directed by Cate Shortland (Lore, Somersault) and stars Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, Ray Winstone, William Hurt and O-T Fagbenle. The movie follows the title character as she confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok) wrote the screenplay based on a story by Jac Schaeffer (The Hustle) and Ned Benson (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby). Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, Iron Man) is producing the project.

Jeff Beal has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix documentary Athlete A. The film is directed by Bonni Cohen & Jon Shenk (The Rape of Europa, Audrie & Daisy) and explores Larry Nassar’s systematic abuse of young women on the USA Gymnastics team. The movie follows the team of investigative journalists from The Indianapolis Star newspaper who exposed the abuse led by Steve Berta, Marisa Kwiatkowski, Mark Alesia, and Tim Evans. Serin Marshall, Jen Sey and Julie Parker Benello are producing the project. Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Pollock, The Biggest Little Farm) has previously scored Cohen’s & Shenk’s last feature An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power.

The movie revolves around a professional assassin who must track down and kill his latest target to satisfy an outstanding debt to his mentor. James C. Wolf (Good Day for It) wrote the screenplay. Stagliano is also producing the project.

The film is directed by Kris Pearn & Cory Evans and features the voices of Will Forte, Alessia Cara, Ricky Gervais, Terry Crews, Maya Rudolph, Jane Krakowski and Martin Short. The movie is based on based on the children’s book of same name by Lois Lowry and tells the story of four children abandoned by their selfish parents who learn how to adapt their old-fashioned values to the contemporary world. Pearn also wrote the screenplay.

Ram Khatabakhsh (The Hunger Games Exhibition, Transformers Autobots) is currently scoring the upcoming sci-fi film Skylin3s. The third installment in the Skyline franchise is written and directed by Liam O’Donnell and stars Lindsey Morgan, Jonathan Howard, Alexander Siddig, Rhona Mitra, Daniel Bernhardt and James Cosmo. The movie follows Captain Rose Corley who, after a deadly virus threatens to turn the now earth-dwelling friendly alien hybrids against humans, must lead a team of elite mercenaries on a mission to the alien world in order to save what’s left of humanity.

The movie is set in the dazzling world of the LA music scene and follows a superstar singer and her overworked personal assistant as they are presented with a choice that could alter the course of their respective careers. Flora Greeson wrote the screenplay. Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonement, Baby Driver, Love Actually, Rush) are producing the project for Working Title Films.
Laura Karpman Scoring Eleanor Coppola’s ‘Love is Love is Love’
Composer Laura Karpman (Underground, Step, Set It Up, Taken, Black Nativity) is reteaming with director Eleanor Coppola on the upcoming romantic comedy drama Love is Love is Love. The film stars Maya Kazan, Joanne Whalley, Chris Messina, Kathy Baker, Marshall Bell, Cybill Shepherd, Rita Wilson, Rosanna Arquette, Polly Draper, Alyson Reed, Valarie Pettiford, Elea Oberon and Nancy Carlin. The movie tells three different stories, including a tale of a married couple that finds an unconventional way to transcend long distance through technology, another couple that tries to reignite their honeymoon-phase heat through a spontaneous sailing trip and a third about a disparate group brought through tragic loss for a memorial meal. Coppola also co-wrote the screenplay with Karen Leigh Hopkins (Stepmom, Because I Said So).
