JB Dunckel (K.O., Capital in the Twenty-First Century, The Summer of Sangaile, Cyprien) of the music duo AIR is composing the original music for the upcoming French coming-of-age drama Summer of 85 (Été 85). The film is written and directed by Francois Ozon (Swimming Pool, By the Grace of God, 8 Women, In the House) and stars Félix Lefebvre, Benjamin Voisin, Philippine Velge, Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, Melvil Poupaud and Isabelle Nanty. The movie follows 16-year-old Alexis who meets 18-year-old David on the coast of Normandy and feels that he has just met the friend of his dreams. Eric Altmayer and Nicolas Altmayer (On the Other Side of the Tracks, Saint Laurent, The Emperor of Paris) are producing the project.

Carter Burwell to Score Joel Coen’s ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’
Carter Burwell is set to compose the original music for the upcoming film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Macbeth. The film marks Joel Coen’s first solo directorial effort and stars Denzel Washington in the title role, Frances McDormand as Lady Macbeth, as well as Brendan Gleeson, Corey Hawkins, Ralph Ineson, Moses Ingram and Harry Melling. The movie follows a Scottish lord who becomes convinced by a trio of witches that he is destined to become king of Scotland and goes to extreme and violent lengths to seize the crown. Coen also wrote the screenplay. Scott Rudin (The Social Network, No Country for Old Men, The Grand Budapest Hotel) is producing the A24 production.
Mario Grigorov Scoring Adam Ethan Crow’s ‘Lair’
Mario Grigorov (Precious, The Paperboy, Shadowdancer) is scoring the upcoming British horror thriller Lair. The film is written and directed by Adam Ethan Crow and stars John Hannah, Corey Johnson, Oded Fehr, Katarina Cas, Julian Kostov, Alexandra Gilbreath and Jen Brister. The movie follows a fractured family forced to face their demons as they unwittingly become embroiled in a man’s attempt to prove the existence of the supernatural in order to overturn a friend’s murder conviction. Shelley Atkin is producing the Ditto Films production.
‘Shirley’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release the official soundtrack album for the drama Shirley. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tamar-kali (Mudbound, The Assistant, Come Sunday, The Last Thing He Wanted, The Lie). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, June 5 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Shirley is directed by Josephine Decker and stars Elisabeth Moss, Michael Stuhlbarg, Odessa Young and Logan Lerman. The movie tells the story of a middle-aged couple that moves in with renowned horror writer Shirley Jackson and her husband in the hopes of starting a new life and find themselves fodder for a psycho-drama that inspires Jackson’s next major novel.
Gregory Tripi Scoring Agata Alexander’s ‘Warning’
Gregory Tripi (Ma, Manhunt: Unabomber, Dark Places, Rememory, The Fix) is composing the original score for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Warning. The film is directed by Agata Alexander and stars Annabelle Wallis, Alice Eve, Alex Pettyfer, Kylie Bunbury, Rupert Everett, Benedict Samuel, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Thomas Jane, Tomasz Kot, Charlotte Le Bon, Garance Marillier, Toni Garrn, Annabel Mullion and Richard Pettyfer. The movie follows separate lives which collide in interweaving short stories set in future Earth. Alexander also co-wrote the screenplay with Rob Michaelson and Jason Kaye.
Alexandre Desplat Scoring George Clooney’s ‘The Midnight Sky’
Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech, The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Harry Potter the Deathly Hallows, Godzilla) confirmed in a recent interview with Indiewire that he is reuniting with George Clooney on the upcoming Netflix original film The Midnight Sky. The post-apocalyptic drama is directed by Clooney who also stars in the film, alongside Felicity Jones, Kyle Chandler, David Oyelowo, Tiffany Boone, Caoilinn Springall, Demián Bichir, Sophie Rundle, Ethan Peck, Tim Russ and Miriam Shor. The movie is based on the novel Good Morning, Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton and follows the parallel stories of a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to make contact with the crew of the Aether spacecraft as they try to return home to Earth.
David Menke & The Limiñanas Scoring Olivier Megaton’s ‘The Last Days of American Crime’
David Menke (Skylines) and the French rock band The Limiñanas have composed the original music for the new Netflix original film The Last Days of American Crime. The film is directed by Olivier Megaton (Taken 2 & 3, Colombiana, Transporter 3) and stars Edgar Ramírez, Michael Pitt, Anna Brewster and Sharlto Copley. The thriller is based on the Radical Publishing graphic novel by of the same title by Rick Remender & Greg Tocchini and centers on a bank robber who joins a plot to commit one final, historic heist before the government turns on a mind-altering signal that will end all criminal behavior. Karl Gajdusek (Oblivion, The November Man) wrote the screenplay.
Alan Menken to Compose Music for Skydance Animation’s ‘Spellbound’
Skydance Animation has announced today that Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) will be composing the score for the upcoming animated feature Spellbound. He will also be writing original songs with lyricist and frequent collaborated Glenn Slater (Tangled). Former President of Walt Disney Music Chris Montan will serve as executive music producer. The film directed Vicky Jenson (Shrek, Shark Tale) is set in a world of magic where a young girl must break the spell that has split her kingdom in two. Lauren Hynek & Elizabeth Martin (Mulan) and Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King) wrote the screenplay.
Martin Todsharow to Score Robert Schwentke’s ‘Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins’
Martin Todsharow has been tapped to score the upcoming sci-fi action adventure Snake Eyes. The film is directed by Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, RED, The Time Traveler’s Wife) and stars Henry Golding, Samara Weaving, Haruka Abe, Ursula Corbero, Iko Uwais, Andrew Koji and Takehiro Hira. The G.I. Joe spin-off chronicles the origin story of the title character. Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast, Hercules) wrote the screenplay. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, Bumblebee, The Meg) and Brian Goldner (Ouija: Origin of Evil) are producing the project. Todsharow (Desert Flower, Head Full of Honey) has previously collaborated with Schwentke on all of the director’s German language features, including Tattoo, The Family Jewels and The Captain.
David Buckley to Score Ilya Naishuller’s ‘Nobody’
David Buckley (The Good Wife, Papillon, Angel Has Fallen, The Forbidden Kingdom, The Stranger) has been hired to score the upcoming action thriller Nobody. The film is directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry) and stars Bob Odenkirk, Gage Munroe, Connie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd and RZA. The movie revolves around a bystander who intervenes to help a woman being harassed by a group of men becomes the target of a vengeful drug lord. Derek Kolstad (John Wick) wrote the screenplay. Kelly McCormick (Atomic Blonde, How It Ends) and David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) are producing the project for 87North, alongside Braden Aftergood (Siberia) for Eighty Two Films, as well as Odenkirk and Marc Provissiero (PEN15, Paradise PD).
