Deadline is reporting that Stew Stewart & Heidi Rodewald will compose the original songs and music for a movie musical about the breakthrough of the Pfizer miracle drug: Viagra. The currently untitled film will be directed by Spike Lee (Malcolm X, BlacKkKlansman, Do the Right Thing, Inside Man) who is also co-writing the screenplay with Kwame Kwei-Armah. The movie is based on the Esquire article All Rise: The Untold Story of The Guys Who Launched Viagra by David Kushner and is inspired by the true events surrounding around Pfizer’s discovery and launch of the erectile dysfunction drug.

The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin and stars Jay Reeves, Thaddeus J. The drama tells the true story of former Clemson University football safety Ray McElrathbey, a young man facing a series of challenging circumstances, whose dedication and persistence help him to triumph over repeated adversities. Nick Santora (Scorpion, The Fugitive) wrote the screenplay.
Kubilay Uner to Score Juan Martinez Vera’s ‘Spiked’
Kubilay Uner (Force of Nature, Big Sur, Gone Are the Days) is currently scoring the upcoming drama Spiked. The film is written and directed by Juan Martinez Vera and stars Aidan Quinn, Wendy Makkena, Walter Belenky, Deirdre Lovejoy, Danay Garcia and Carlos Gomez. The movie is inspired by the real-life events surrounding Arizona based newspaper publisher Joseph Soldwedel and centers on the feud between a newspaper owner and the chief of police that leads to the blurring of the truth when the murder of a migrant worker shakes a southwest border town. Per Melita (Tesla, Experimenter, A Good Marriage) is producing the project.

Netflix announced today that Alex Geringas (Woody Woodpecker, Impractical Jokers, Trolls: The Beat Goes On!) is composing the original music for the upcoming animated musical Arlo the Alligator Boy. The film is directed by Ryan Crego and features the voices of Michael J. Woodard, Mary Lambert, Michael “Flea” Balzary, Annie Potts, Tony Hale, Brett Gelman, Jonathan Van Ness, Haley Tju, Jennifer Coolidge and Vincent Rodriguez III. The movie tells the story of a wide-eyed boy, who is half human and half alligator, who learns that he is from New York City and decides to leave his sheltered life in the swamp and search for his long lost father. Blake Lemons will serve as the project’s supervising producer.

Greek composer Eleni Karaindrou has written the original score for the upcoming drama The Last Planet. The film is directed by Eirik Svensson (Harajuku, One Night in Oslo) and stars Jakob Oftebro, Silje Storstein, Eilif Hartwig, Carl Martin Eggesbø, and Michalis Koutsogiannakis. The movie tells the true story of the Jewish Braude family, an ordinary Norwegian working class family who had lived in safety in Oslo before being transported to Auschwitz during World War II. Lars Gudmestad (Jo Nesbø’s Headhunters, Buddy) and Harald Rosenløw-Eeg (The Wave, The King’s Choice) wrote the screenplay based on Marte Michelet’s book The Ultimate Crime.

Composer Jon Ekstrand has teamed up with Carl-Johan Sevedag (aka OA) of the Swedish electronic pop duo Cape Lion to co-score the upcoming survival thriller Horizon Line. The film is directed by Mikael Marcimain (Call Girl, Gentlemen) and stars Allison Williams, Alexander Dreymon and Keith David. The movie follows a young woman who travelling to a friend’s tropical island wedding on a small single-engine plane, when the pilot suffers a heart attack and herself and the only other passenger, her ex-boyfriend, are forced to work together to stay airborne long enough to find land. Josh Campbell & Matthew Stuecken (10 Cloverfield Lane) wrote the screenplay.

Stephen McKeon (The Hole in the Ground, Norm of the North, Queen & Country) is attached to score the upcoming Irish/Belgian horror thriller The Cellar. The film is written and directed by Brendan Muldowney and stars Elisha Cuthbert and Eoin Macken. The movie tells the story of a woman whose daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of their new house in the country and who soon discovers there is an ancient and powerful entity controlling their home.
