The film, which combines animation and live action dance, is directed by Jeff Tudor, Steven de Beul & Ben Tesseur and stars Michaela DePrince, Daniel Camargo, Sasha Mukhamedov, Vito Mazzeo, Irek Mukhamedov and Dame Darcey Bussell. The movie based on the classic ballet of the same title is a modern retelling of the love story between Swan and Franz, jeopardized by cosmetic surgeon Dr. Coppelius and his uncannily beautiful protégé Coppelia.

Anne Dudley & Dan Gillespie Sells Scoring ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ Movie Adaptation
Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, The Crying Game, Poldark, American History X) has teamed up with Dan Gillespie Sells to compose the underscore for the upcoming movie musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. The film is directed by Jonathan Butterell and stars Max Harwood, Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Sharon Horgan, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley and Richard E. Grant. The movie is based on the stage musical of the same title by Tom MacRae & Gillespie Sells and tells the story of an openly gay teenager, living on a council estate in Sheffield, England with ambitions to be a drag queen.
Rupert Gregson-Williams to Score Netflix’s ‘Back to the Outback’
Netflix has announced today that Rupert Gregson-Williams (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, The Legend of Tarzan, Hacksaw Ridge, The Crown) will compose the original score for the upcoming animated film Back to the Outback. The movie marks the directorial debuts of editor Clare Knight (Kung Fu Panda trilogy, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part) & writer Harry Cripps (Penguin Bloom, The Magic Pudding) and features the voice talent of Isla Fisher, Eric Bana, Guy Pearce, Miranda Tapsell, Angus Imrie, Keith Urban, Rachel House, Celeste Barber, Aislinn Derbez, Diesel Cash La Torraca, Wayne Knight, Lachlan Ross Power and Jacki Weaver, as well as Tim Minchin who is also contributing original songs. The animated feature follows a ragtag group of Australia’s deadliest creatures as they plot a daring escape from their zoo to the Outback, a place where they’ll fit in without being judged for their scales and fangs.
Hildur Guðnadóttir to Score David O. Russell’s Next Feature
Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Mary Magdalene) confirmed at today’s first panel at Variety’s Music for Screens Summit that she will be scoring director David O. Russell’s next, currently untitled, feature. The film is written and directed by O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Three Kings) and stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington. No plot details have been announced. Matthew Budman (Detroit, Spree) is producing the New Regency production. Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki serves as the director of photography of the project, which marks Guðnadóttir’s first feature scoring assignment following her Academy Award-winning score for Todd Phillips’ Joker.
Cho Young-wuk Scoring Zhang Yimou’s ‘Impasse’
Earlier this month, Cho Young-wuk (Oldboy, Lady Vengeance, The Little Drummer Girl, Thirst, The Handmaiden) has recorded his score for the upcoming Chinese spy thriller Impasse. The film is directed by Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) and stars Zhang Yi, Yu Hewei, Zhu Yawen, Qin Hailu, Ni Dahong and Liu Haocun. The movie centers on the escape of a group of CCP agents who have obtained proof the Japanese are conducting unethical human experiments. Liwei Pang (Shadow, One Second) is producing the project.
Tom Hodge Scoring Kevin Macdonald’s ‘The Mauritanian’
Tom Hodge (McMafia, Rise of the Nazis, The Man Behind the Microphone) has composed the original score for the upcoming thriller The Mauritanian. The film is directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, Touching the Void) and stars Tahar Rahim, Jodie Foster, Shailene Woodley, Benedict Cumberbatch and Zachary Levi. The movie is based on Mohamedou Ould Slahi’s memoir Guantánamo Diary and centers on detainee at the U.S military’s Guantanamo Bay detention center a who languishes in prison for years without charge or trial until he finds allies in a defense attorney and her associate. Michael Bronner, Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani (Informer) wrote the screenplay.
James Newton Howard Scoring Disney’s ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’
James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games, King Kong, The Sixth Sense, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Signs, Maleficent) has recently been scoring the upcoming animated feature Raya and the Last Dragon. The film is directed by Don Hall (Big Hero 6, Winnie the Pooh) & Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting) and stars Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina. The movie tells the story of a fearless warrior as she seeks a water dragon who can transform into a human being to save the realm from evil forces. Adele Lim (Crazy Rich Asians) and Qui Nguyen wrote the screenplay.
Michael Giacchino to Return for ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ Sequel
Michael Giacchino has confirmed that he will be returning as the composer for the third installment in the Spider-Man series as part of Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe. The composer has previously scored the first two films, Spider-Man: Homecoming and last year’s Spider-Man: Far from Home. Jon Watts is returning to direct the movie, as are cast members Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon and Marisa Tomei. They are joined by Jamie Foxx who will reprise his role as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.
John Debney to Score Disney+’s ‘Home Alone’ Reboot
John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book, Elf, Hocus Pocus, The Greatest Showman) has been hired to score the upcoming Disney+ original movie Home Alone. The film is directed by Dan Mazer (I Give It a Year, Da Ali G Show) and stars Archie Yates, Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Ally Maki, Kenan Thompson, Chris Parnell, Aisling Bea, Pete Holmes, Timothy Simons and Mikey Day. No plot details have been announced yet for the family comedy, which is based on the Chris Columbus-directed and John Hughes-written and -produced 1990 hit feature of the same title scored by John Williams. Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell wrote the screenplay.
Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch Scoring Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.’s ‘The Forgotten Battle’
This week, Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch (Rocks, Only You, Tiger Orange) is recording her score for the upcoming Dutch historical drama The Forgotten Battle (De Slag om de Schelde). The film is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen (The Thing) and stars Gijs Blom, Susan Radder, Jamie Flatters and Tom Felton. The movie centers on the bloody but crucial battle (known as the Battle of the Scheldet) that claimed ten thousand lives during World War II, but secured supply lines for the Allied forces’ push to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany. Paula van der Oest (The Bay of Silence, Black Butterflies) wrote the screenplay.
