Deadline is reporting that music producer/composer Adam Anders (Glee, Rock of Ages, Dirty Dancing) is set to make his directorial debut on the upcoming musical feature Road to Bethlehem. He will also compose the project’s original music with singer/songwriter Nikki Anders and songwriter/music producer Peer Astrom. Christy Hall (I Am Not Okay with This) is writing the screenplay. Anders is also producing the Monarch Media, SPACE + ART Entertainment and STORY Collective production with Steve Barnett (Priceless) & Alan Powell, Brandt Andersen (Don Verdean, Exeter) and Stephen Meinen & Ryan Busse.

Colin Stetson Scoring Karen Cinorre’s ‘Mayday’
Colin Stetson (Hereditary, Color Out of Space, The First, Barkskins) is composing the original score for the upcoming drama Mayday. The film is written and directed by Karen Cinorre and stars Grace Van Patten, Mia Goth, Havana Rose Liu, Soko, Théodore Pellerin and Juliette Lewis. The movie follows a young woman who is mysteriously transported to an alternate world after a short circuit at her workplace and meets a crew of female soldiers caught in an endless war. Cinorre is also producing the project with Jonah Disend, Lucas Joaquin (Love Is Strange, Selah and the Spades) and director of photography Sam Levy (Lady Bird, Frances Ha).
Harry Gregson-Williams to Score Ridley Scott’s ‘The Last Duel’
Composer Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Mulan, Man on Fire, Unstoppable) is reteaming with director Ridley Scott on the upcoming period drama The Last Duel. The film is directed by Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Alien, Blade Runner) and stars Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, Ben Affleck and Harriet Walter. The movie is set in 14th century France and tells the tale two of knights whose bond is tested by treachery and a young woman forced to navigate the brutal and oppressive culture of the era in order to survive. Affleck & Damon also wrote the screenplay with Nicole Holofcener (Enough Said, Friends with Money) based on Eric Jager’s novel of the same title.
Daniel Pemberton to Return for ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Sequel
Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Birds of Prey, Enola Holmes, Motherless Brooklyn, The Trial of the Chicago 7) has confirmed that he will be returning to score the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel. The animated film will be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos (Voltron: Legendary Defender) and is being written by David Callahm (Wonder Woman 1984, The Expendables, Zombieland: Double Tap). No plot details have been announced yet. Shameik Moore will return as the voice of Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld is set to reprise her role as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman. Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Far from Home, Bridge of Spies) is producing the Sony Pictures Animation & Marvel Entertainment production with Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, 21/22 Jump Street).
Barry Jenkins’ ‘The Lion King’ Prequel to Feature Music by Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams & Nicholas Britell
Disney announced today that Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams and Nicholas Britell will provide the music for studios’ upcoming The Lion King prequel. The film will be directed by Barry Jenkins and will use the same photo-realistic technology from last year’s remake directed by Jon Favreau. No casting announcements have been made yet. Zimmer has previously scored the original 1994 animated The Lion King film, as well as last year’s remake and Williams produced several songs from the 2019 movie.
Craig Armstrong to Score Norman Stone’s ‘The Most Reluctant Convert’
Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Incredible Hulk, The Great Gatsby, Romeo + Juliet, The Bone Collector, Love Actually) has been tapped to score the upcoming biographical drama The Most Reluctant Convert. The film is directed by Norman Stone (Shadowlands) and stars Max McLean, Nicholas Ralph, Eddie Ray Martin, Tom Glenister (as J.R.R. Tolkien), David Shields and Owen Barfield. The movie is based on the stage play of the same title and charts the spiritual journey of renowned writer C.S. Lewis prior to the publication of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, and before his marriage to Joy Davidman.
Tom Holkenborg to Score George Miller’s ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’
Composer Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Deadpool, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Alita: Battle Angel, Divergent, Black Mass) is set to reteam with director George Miller (Mad Max, Babe, Happy Feet) on the upcoming romantic fantasy drama Three Thousand Years of Longing. The film stars Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba. No plot details have been announced yet. Doug Mitchell (Dead Calm, Lorenzo’s Oil) is producing the project. Holkenborg has previously collaborated with Miller on the director’s last feature, Mad Max: Fury Road.
Stefan Gregory Scoring Simon Stone’s Netflix Film ‘The Dig’
Stefan Gregory has made his feature scoring debut on the the upcoming British Netflix original film The Dig. The movie is directed by Simon Stone (The Daughter) and stars Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes, Lily James, Johnny Flynn, Ben Chaplin and Ken Stott. The drama is set in 1938 as World War II looms and follows a wealthy widow who hires an amateur archaeologist to excavate the burial mounds on her estate. Moira Buffini (Harlots, Jane Eyre) wrote the screenplay based on a book by John Preston.
Sean Callery Scoring Robert Lorenz’s ‘The Marksman’
Sean Callery (24, Jessica Jones, Homeland, Bones, La Femme Nikita) has composed the original score for the upcoming action thriller The Marksman. The film is directed by Robert Lorenz (Trouble with the Curve) and stars Liam Neeson, Katheryn Winnick, Juan Pablo Raba and Teresa Ruiz. The movie follows a hardened Arizona rancher who becomes the unlikely defender of a young Mexican boy desperately fleeing the cartel assassins who have pursued him into the U.S. Lorenz also co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Charles & Danny Kravitz. He is also producing the Voltage Pictures production with Tai Duncan (Honest Thief, Proud Mary), Mark Williams (Ozark, The Accountant), Warren Goz & Eric Gold (Urge).
Will Bates Scoring Michael Haussman’s ‘Rajah’
Will Bates (Unbelievable, Away, The Magicians, I Origins, The Looming Tower, Nightflyers) has composed the original music for the upcoming period adventure drama Rajah. The film is directed by Michael Haussman and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Josie Ho and Dominic Monaghan. The movie tells the story of Sir James Brooke, the 19th century explorer whose fight for the indigenous people of Borneo saw him become the real-life role model for Joseph Conrad’s novel Lord Jim and Rudyard Kipling’s The Man Who Would Be King.
