Batu Sener is currently recording his score for the upcoming animated feature Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild. The film stars Simon Pegg as the voice of the title character (who appeared in the Ice Age features Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Continental Drift and Collision Course) and follows Buck Wild as he goes go on a new adventure in the Dinosaur World, alongside Crash and Eddie. No other casting announcements have been made yet for the 20th Century Animation production. Sener has previously contributed additional music to several scores by composer John Powell, including How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, The Call of the Wild and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Powell has scored the second, third and fourth installment in the Ice Age feature series, while David Newman scored the original 2002 film and John Debney composed the music for the fifth installment.

Jonny Greenwood Scoring Jane Campion’s ‘The Power of the Dog’
Film at Lincoln Center confirmed this week that Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood (Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood, Inherent Vice, The Master, You Were Never Really Here) has composed the original score for the upcoming drama The Power of the Dog. The film is written and directed by Jane Campion (The Piano, The Portrait of a Lady) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smit-McPhee. The movie is based on Thomas Savage 1967 novel of the same name and follows a domineering, magnetic rancher who responds with mocking cruelty when his brother brings home a new wife and her son, until the unexpected comes to pass.
Geoff Zanelli to Score Michael Hines’ ‘Man & Witch’
Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Disturbia, Christopher Robin, Hitman) is scoring the upcoming fantasy comedy Man & Witch. The film is directed by Michael Hines and stars Tami Stronach, Greg Steinbruner, Jennifer Saunders, Eddie Izzard, Sean Astin, Bill Bailey, Christopher Lloyd, Shorhreh Aghdashloo, Michael Emerson, Pauline McLynn, Daniel Portman, Reginald D. Hunter, Stuart Bowman, Martha West and Giovanni Pernice. The movie, which is being described as an homage to the lo-fi fantasy films of the 80s, tells the story of a witch who helps a cursed goatherd in his quest for love. Steinbruner also wrote the screenplay.
Harry Gregson-Williams to Score Ridley Scott’s ‘House of Gucci’
Composer Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Mulan, The Equalizer, Man on Fire, The Town) is reteaming with director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Alien, Blade Runner) on the upcoming crime drama House of Gucci. The film starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jack Huston, Reeve Carney, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Al Pacino is based on the Sara Gay Forden book of the same name and centers on the events around the assassination of Guccio Gucci’s grandson, Maurizio . Becky Johnston (The Prince of Tides, Seven Years in Tibet) and Roberto Bentivegna wrote the screenplay.

Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Battlestar Galactica, Happy Death Day, Colossal) has recently scored the upcoming thriller This Game’s Called Murder. The film is written and directed by Adam Sherman (Happiness Runs, producer of Marfa Girl) and stars Ron Perlman, Vanessa Marano, Natasha Henstridge, James Lastovic, Judson Mills, Tyler Steelman, Annabel Barrett and Tory Devon Smith. The movie follows the daughter an of iconic women’s luxury footwear designer Mr. Wallendorf who sabotages her sadistic father’s business. Sherman is also producing the project with Hagai Shaham (Mean Creek, The Details) and Paul Laurens.
Mychael & Jeff Danna to Return for ‘The Addams Family 2’
Over the last couple of days, Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote) and Jeff Danna (The Boondock Saints, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Tales of Arcadia) have been recording their score for the upcoming animated comedy sequel The Addams Family 2. The film is directed by Greg Tiernan (Sausage Party) & Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens) and features the voice talent of Charlize Theron, Oscar Isaac, Chloë Grace Moretz, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Bill Hader, Bette Midler, Nick Kroll and Snoop Dogg. The movie follows Morticia and Gomez as they try to reclaim their bond with Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation.
Alberto Iglesias Scoring Pedro Almodóvar’s ‘Parallel Mothers’
Composer Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Kite Runner, The Constant Gardener, Exodus: Gods and Kings) is reuniting with director Pedro Almodóvar on the upcoming Spanish drama Parallel Mothers (Madres paralelas). The film is written and directed by Almodóvar and stars Penélope Cruz, Milena Smit, Israel Elejalde, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Julieta Serrano and Rossy De Palma. The movie tells the story of two mothers – both single women who got pregnant by accident – who enter the same hospital ward to give birth. Agustín Almodóvar & Esther García (Wild Tales, The Secret Life of Words) are producing the El Deseo production.
Michael Abels to Reteam with Jordan Peele on ‘Nope’
Composer Michael Abels (Bad Education, Allen v. Farrow, Fake Famous, See You Yesterday) is set to reteam with director Jordan Peele on the upcoming horror movie Nope. The film written and directed by Peele will star Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Brandon Perea and Michael Wincott. No plot details have been announced yet. Peele is also producing the project through his Monkeypaw Productions company, alongside Ian Cooper (Candyman). Abels has previously scored the director’s first two features, Get Out and Us, for which he was shortlisted in Original Score category at last year’s Academy Awards.

Mathieu Lamboley (Lupin, A Minuscule Adventure, Sisters in Arms, Lolo, Return of the Hero) has composed the original music for the new French Netflix original film The Last Mercenary (Le dernier mercenaire). The movie is directed by David Charhon (On the Other Side of the Tracks, Cyprien) and stars Jean-Claude Van Damme, Alban Ivanov, Éric Judor, Patrick Timsit, Miou-Miou, Assa Sylla, Samir Decazza, Valérie Kaprisky, Djimo and Nassim Lyes. The action comedy revolves around a legendary secret agent-turned-mercenary who comes out of hiding to save the son he’s never met and who is being framed by an international terrorist organization.
Dominic Lewis to Score David Leitch’s ‘Bullet Train’
Dominic Lewis (The Man in the High Castle, Peter Rabbit, Money Monster, Monsters at Work, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween) has been hired to score the upcoming action thriller Bullet Train. The film is directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2, John Wick, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) and stars Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Zazie Beetz, Sandra Bullock, Logan Lerman, Andrew Koji, Brian Tyree Henry, Bad Bunny, Masi Oka, Michael Shannon, Hiroyuki Sanada and Karen Fukuhara. The movie is based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka and follows five assassins who find themselves on a fast moving train in Japan and realize that their assignments have something in common.
