Brian Tyler (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Fast & Furious, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Crazy Rich Asians) has revealed during a recent composer panel at this year’s virtual Comic-Con that he is composing the score for the upcoming Disney+ original movie Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. The live-action/animated hybrid film based on the classic TV series of the same title created by Tad Stones & Alan Zaslove. is directed by Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) and stars John Mulaney and Andy Samberg as the voices of the title characters.

Laura Karpman (Lovecraft Country, Set It Up, Why We Hate, Step, Paris Can Wait, Underground) has composed the original score for the new Netflix original film Resort to Love. The movie is directed by Steven Tsuchida (Life-Size 2) and stars Christina Milian, Jay Pharoah, Sinqua Walls, Tymberlee Hill, Jeryl Prescott Gallien, Christiani Pitts, Karen Obilom, Alexander Hodge, T.J. Power, Sylvaine Strike and Kayne Lee Harrison. The romantic comedy follows a singer reeling from a broken engagement and career meltdown who takes a gig at a swanky island resort, where her ex-fiancé happens to be getting married.
Rolfe Kent Scoring Hulu’s ‘Vacation Friends’
Rolfe Kent (Sideways, About Schmidt, Wedding Crashers, Election, Up in the Air, Mean Girls, Freaky Friday) has recently scored the upcoming comedy Vacation Friends. The film is directed by Clay Tarver (Silicon Valley, Joy Ride) and stars John Cena, Lil Rel Howery, Yvonne Orji, Meredith Hagner, Robert Wisdom, Andrew Bachelor and Lynn Whitfield. The movie follows a straight-laced couple that has fun with a rowdy couple on vacation in Mexico and later discover that the crazy couple they met in Mexico followed them back home to the United States. Tarver also co-wrote the screenplay with Tom Mullen & Tim Mullen and Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Game Night, Horrible Bosses).
Bryce Dessner & Aaron Dessner Scoring Mike Mills’ ‘C’mon C’mon’
Bryce Dessner (The Two Popes, Irresistible, The Kitchen) & Aaron Dessner (Transpecos, Big Sur) of the rock band The National have teamed up to score the upcoming drama C’mon C’mon. The film is written and directed by Mike Mills (Beginners, 20th Century Women, Thumbsucker) and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Gaby Hoffman, Woody Norman and Kenneth Kynt Bryan. The movie follows an artist left to take care of his precocious young nephew as they forge an unexpected bond over a cross country trip. Chelsea Barnard (Booksmart), Lila Yacoub (Eighth Grade, Frances Ha) and Andrea Longacre-White are producing the A24 production.
Émoi to Score Kevin Lewis’ ‘The Accursed’
Composer Émoi is set to reteam with director Kevin Lewis on the upcoming horror movie The Accursed. The film starring Mena Suvari, Sarah Grey, Alexis Knapp, Meg Foster and Sarah Dumont focuses on a young woman who is forced to return home from volunteering as a nurse abroad after her estranged mother dies by suicide and finds herself haunted by terrifying visions of her mother. Consumed by guilt and eager for a quick escape, she accepts the offer as a temporary caregiver to look after a comatose woman in her isolated cabin, where she is confronted by a witch hunter who is hellbent on lifting the demonic curse that has plagued her family for generation. Rob Kennedy (Midnight Man) wrote the screenplay.

Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Americans, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Hollywood, Cabin Fever) has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix original film Kate. The movie is directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan (The Huntsman: Winter’s War) and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Woody Harrelson, Michiel Huisman, Tadanobu Asano, Jun Kunimura, Miyavi Lee Ishihara and Miku Martineau. The thriller revolves around a ruthless criminal operative who – after getting poisoned – has less than 24 hours to exact revenge on her enemies and in the process forms an unexpected bond with the daughter of one of her past victims.

Last week, Isobel Waller-Bridge (Emma, Fleabag, Vanity Fair, Vita & Virginia, The Split, The ABC Murders) has recorded her score for the upcoming British comedy drama The Fantastic Flitcrofts. The film is directed by Craig Roberts (Just Jim, Eternal Beauty) and stars Mark Rylance, Sally Hawkins, Rhys Ifans, Jake Davies, Christian Lees, Jonah Lees, Mark Lewis Jones and Johann Myers. The movie tells the true story of Maurice Flitcroft, a dreamer and unrelenting optimist, who managed to gain entry to The British Open Golf Championship qualifying in 1976 and subsequently shot the worst round in Open history.
Andrea Laszlo De Simone Scoring Amanda Sthers’ ‘Promises’
Italian singer/songwriter Andrea Laszlo De Simone is making his film scoring debut on the upcoming French/Italian romantic drama Promises. The movie is written and directed by Amanda Sthers (Holy Lands, Madame) and stars Kelly Reilly, Pierfrancesco Favino, Jean Reno, Cara Theobold, Deepak Verma and Kris Marshall. The film is based on Sthers’ novel of the same title and centers on an unfulfilled love affair between a man and a woman. Fabio Conversi (The Lookout, L’attesa), Marco Cohen, Benedetto Habib & Fabrizio Donvito (Human Capital, The Leisure Seeker) and Daniel Campos Pavoncelli (The App) are producing the project.
Ré Olunuga to Score Disney+’s ‘Greek Freak’
Nigerian composer Ré Olunuga (Up North, Coming from Insanity) has signed on to score the upcoming Disney+ original film Greek Freak. The movie is directed by Akin Omotoso (Vaya) and stars Uche Agada, Yetide Badaki and Dayo Okeniyi. The drama is inspired by the true story of NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s life and his family who through faith, determination, and their unbreakable bond, would unite to lift themselves out of a life of poverty as undocumented immigrants living in Greece. Arash Amel (A Private War, The Titan) wrote the screenplay and Bernie Goldmann (300, Fool’s Gold) is producing the project.
George Kallis Scoring Castille Landon’s ‘After We Fell’
George Kallis (Cliffs of Freedom, The Black Prince, The Last Warrior, 93 Days) has composed the original score for the upcoming romantic drama After We Fell, the third installment in the After series. The film is directed by Castille Landon and stars Josephine Langford, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Kiana Madeira and Stephen Moyer. The movie is based on Anna Todd’s novel of the same title and follows Tessa as she discovers revelations about her family, and then Hardin’s, that throw everything they knew before in doubt and makes their hard-won future together more difficult to claim. Sharon Soboil wrote the screenplay.
