Chris Benstead is reteaming with director Guy Ritchie (Snatch, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) on the upcoming spy thriller Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre. The film starring Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone and Hugh Grant follows a super spy who recruits Hollywood’s biggest movie star to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology wielded by a billionaire arms broker. Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies wrote the screenplay, with revisions by Ritchie.

Linda Perry to Compose Music for Stephen David Brooks’ ‘Meet the Pumps’
Grammy Award nominee Linda Perry (of the former rock band 4 Non Blondes) is set to compose the music for the upcoming drama Meet the Pumps. The singer/songwriter and film & TV composer will also serve as the music supervisor and an executive producer of the movie directed by Stephen David Brooks (Flytrap, Heads N Tailz) . The film will examine the rise, fall, and ultimate resurrection of charismatic lead singer, Antoinette “Toni” Sabo of the all-female LA punk band The Pumps. Brooks also co-wrote the screenplay with Mike “in Tokyo” Rogers. They are both also producing the project.
Ludwig Göransson to Score Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’
Universal Pictures announced today that Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther, Creed, The Mandalorian, Venom, Community) will reteam with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Memento) on the director’s upcoming historical drama Oppenheimer. The film is written and directed by Nolan and will star Cillian Murphy in the title role of American physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer. The movie is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird & Martin J. Sherwin and is produced by Nolan, Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (Wonder Woman, Man of Steel).
Nathan Johnson to Score Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Nightmare Alley’
Variety is reporting that Nathan Johnson (Knives Out, Looper, Brick, Don Jon) has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming psychological thriller Nightmare Alley. He is replacing Alexandre Desplat who was previously scoring the movie. The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro and stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Toni Collette, Ron Perlman and David Strathairn. The movie is based on the 1946 novel of the same title by William Lindsay Gresham and centers on an ambitious young carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words as he hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is even more dangerous than he is.
Jonathan Sanford Scoring Ric Roman Waugh’s ‘National Champions’
Jonathan Sanford (Teenage Bounty Hunters, Good on Paper, Dare Me, Social Distance) has been tapped to score the upcoming sports drama National Champions. The film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Angel Has Fallen, Shot Caller, Greenland) and stars Stephan James, J. K. Simmons, Alexander Ludwig, Uzo Aduba, Timothy Olyphant, Andrew Bachelor, David Koechner, Tim Blake Nelson, Jeffrey Donovan, Kristin Chenoweth and Lil Rel Howery. The movie tells the story of a star quarterback who ignites a player’s strike 72 hours before the biggest game of the year to fight for fair compensation, equality, and respect for the athletes who put their bodies and health on the line for their schools.

Mark Korven (The Witch, The Lighthouse, Them, Cube, The Terror: Infamy, In the Tall Grass) is composing the original music for the upcoming horror movie Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The film is written an directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey at Night) and stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Avan Jogia, Tom Hopper, Donal Logue and Neal McDonough. The seventh installment in the Resident Evil movie franchise based on the video game series is set in Raccoon City, now a dying Midwestern town, and follows a group of survivors who must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.

Randy Edelman (Ghostbusters II, Dragonheart, xXx, Gettysburg, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, The Last of the Mohicans, Kindergarten Cop, While You Were Sleeping) is currently scoring the upcoming coming-of-age drama Skelly. The film is written and directed by Matt Greene-Delanghe and stars Brian Cox, Torrey DeVitto, John Palladino and Judah Abner Paul. The movie tells the story of a young boy dealing with grief after the death of his grandfather that triggers an obsession with mortality as he and his friends put together the annual haunted house.
Thomas Newman Scoring Marc Forster’s ‘White Bird: A Wonder Story’
Thomas Newman (American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, 1917, Finding Nemo, Skyfall, Wall-E) has recently been recording his score for the upcoming drama White Bird: A Wonder Story. The film is directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Quantum of Solace, Monster’s Ball) and stars Gillian Anderson, Helen Mirren, Ariella Glaser, Orlando Schwerdt, as well as Bryce Gheisar who is reprising his role as Julian Albans from Stephen Chbosky’s 2017 feature Wonder (scored by Marcelo Zarvos). The movie based on the book by R.J. Palacio is set in the same universe as the 2017 drama and centers on Julian who left Beecher Prep and is visited by his Grandmère from Paris who tells him stories of her childhood as a young Jewish girl living in Nazi-occupied France during World War II.

The film is directed by George Clooney and stars Ben Affleck, Tye Sheridan, Christopher Lloyd, Lily Rabe, Sondra James, Max Martini and Max Casella. Linda Cohen serves as the music supervisor of the movie, which is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by J.R. Moehringer and tells the story of fatherless boy growing up in the glow of a bar where the bartender is the sharpest and most colorful of an assortment of quirky and demonstrative father figures.
John Debney to Return for Disney+’s ‘Hocus Pocus 2’
John Debney (The Jungle Book, The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf, The Emperor’s New Groove) is set to return as the composer of the upcoming Disney+ original movie Hocus Pocus 2. The film will be directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses, Step Up) and will star Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker & Kathy Najimy who are reprising their roles of the Sanderson Sisters. The sequel follows three young women who accidentally bring the trio back to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world. Lynn Harris (The Notebook, The Shallows) is producing the project.
