Roy Mayorga, drummer of Ministry, Hellyeah and Stone Sour, has announced that he has composed the original score for the upcoming horror comedy Studio 666. John Carpenter (Halloween, Assault on Precint 13, The Fog) has written the theme song for the the film, which is directed by BJ McDonnell (Slayer: The Repentless Killogy, Hatched III) and stars all six members of the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett & Rami Jaffee), as well as Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega and Jeff Garlin. The movie follows the Foo Fighters as they move into a haunted San Fernando Valley mansion to record 2021’s Medicine at Midnight, when they find themselves grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.

Nitin Sawhney Scoring Shekhar Kapur’s ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It?’
Nitin Sawhney (The Namesake, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, Traitors, Breathe, Lila Says) has been tapped to score the upcoming British romantic comedy What’s Love Got to Do With It?. The film is directed by Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth, The Four Feathers) and stars Lily James, Shazad Latif, Emma Thompson, Rob Brydon, Asim Chaudhry, Sajal Ali and Shabana Azmi. No plot details have been announced yet for the movie, which is set between London and South Asia and centers on a cross-cultural romance.
Chanda Dancy Scoring J.D. Dillard’s ‘Devotion’
Over the last few days, Chanda Dancy (The Defeated, Dramarama, Everything Before Us, After We Leave) has recorded her score for the upcoming Korean war drama Devotion. The film is directed by J.D. Dillard (Sleight, Sweetheart) and stars Jonathan Majors, Glen Powell, Joe Jonas, Thomas Sadoski, Serinda Swan, Daren Kagasoff, Spencer Neville and Nick Hargrove. The movie is based on the bestselling book Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship and Sacrifice by Adam Makos and tells the story of two U.S. Navy fighter pilots who are initiated together into the VF-32 squadron and pushed to their limits and whose friendship is tested when one of them is shot down behind enemy lines.
Alexandre Desplat Scoring Graham Moore’s ‘The Outfit’
Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Queen) has composed the original score for the upcoming crime drama The Outfit. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Graham Moore (The Imitation Game) and stars Mark Rylance, Dylan O’Brien, Zoey Deutch and Johnny Flynn. The movie follows an English tailor who used to craft suits on London’s world-famous Savile Row who ends up on Chicago, operating a small tailor shop in a rough part of town where he makes beautiful clothes for the only people around who can afford them: a family of vicious gangsters.
Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans Scoring Charlie McDowell’s ‘Windfall’
Composers Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Ozark, Boy Erased, The Gift, The White Tiger, Enemy, The Devil All the Time) are reteaming with director Charlie McDowell on the upcoming Netflix original film Windfall. The thriller starring Jason Segel, Lily Collins and Jesse Plemons follows a young couple who arrive at their vacation home, only to find out it’s being robbed. Andrew Kevin Walker (Seven, Sleepy Hollow) wrote the screenplay based on a story by himself, McDowell, Segel and Justin Lader.
Joseph Bishara to Score Darren Lynn Bousman’s ‘Cello’
Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring, Insidious, Annabelle, Malignant, The Curse of La Llorona, The Unholy) is composing the original music for the upcoming horror thriller Cello. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III & IV, Mother’s Day) and stars Jeremy Irons, Tobin Bell, Samer Ismail and Elham Ali. The movie tells the story of an aspiring cellist who learns that the cost of his brand-new cello is a lot more insidious than he first thought. Turki Al Alshikh wrote the screenplay based on his own novel. Lee Nelson (The Ice Road, Celeste and Jesse Forever) is producing the project for Envision Media Art.
Fernando Velazquez to Score Lone Scherfig’s ‘The Movie Teller’
Fernando Velazquez (The Impossible, The Orphanage, A Monster Calls, Crimson Peak, Hercules, Devil) is attached to score the upcoming drama The Movie Teller. The film will be directed by Lone Scherfig (An Education, One Day) and is set to star Bérénice Bejo and Antonio de la Torre. The movie is based on Hernán Rivera Letelier’s novel of the same title and tells the story a young girl growing up in a mining town in the heart of Chile’s Atacama desert during the 1960s, where a movie house represents the sole distraction for hundreds of working class families. Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries, Central Station) & Rafa Russo (Twice Upon a Yesterday, Get Her…If You Can) wrote the screenplay.

Abel Korzeniowski (A Single Man, Nocturnal Animals, The Courier, W.E., The Nun, Romeo and Juliet) has been tapped to score the upcoming biographical drama Emily. The film marks the directorial debut of actress Frances O’Connor and stars Emma Mackey, Fionn Whitehead, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Alexandra Dowling, Amelia Gething, Gemma Jones and Adrian Dunbar. The movie centers on the early life of Emily Brontë, author of Wuthering Heights. O’Connor also wrote the screenplay.
