MovieScore Media will release the official soundtrack album for the sci-fi psychological thriller Slingshot. The album features the film’s original score composed by Steffen Thum (Crawl, iBoy, Stockholm Bloodbath, Warning Shot) and produced by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning & Fallout, His Dark Materials, Black Widow, Bad Boys for Life, Black Adam, Top Gun: Maverick). The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 30 (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services) and will also be available on the label’s “CD on Demand” format. A first track (All the Right Questions) is already available to stream/download now and can also be checked out after the jump. Slingshot is directed by Mikael Håfström and stars Casey Affleck, Laurence Fishburne and Emily Beecham. The movie follows an elite trio of astronauts aboard a years-long, possibly compromised mission to Saturn’s moon Titan as they gear up for a highly dangerous slingshot maneuver that will either catapult them to Titan or into deep space.

Stockholm Bloodbath is directed by Mikael Håfström and stars Claes Bang, Ulrich Thomsen, Jakob Oftebro, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Sophie Cookson and Emily Beecham. The movie is set in the 16th Century and centers on the dark and complex chain of events that led to an infamous massacre of nearly 100 nobles and civilians in the Swedish capital.
Lorne Balfe to Score Mikael Håfström’s ‘Slingshot’
Composer Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Black Widow, His Dark Materials, The Wheel of Time, The Lego Batman Movie) is set to reteam with director Mikael Håfström (1408, Derailed) on the upcoming psychological sci-fi thriller Slingshot. The film starring Casey Affleck, Laurence Fishburne, Emily Beecham, Tomer Capone and David Morrissey centers on an astronaut struggling to maintain his grip on reality aboard a possibly fatally compromised mission to Saturn’s moon, Titan. R. Scott Adams (Donner Pass) and Nathan Parker (Moon, Our House) wrote the screenplay.
Lorne Balfe Scoring Mikael Hafstrom’s Netflix Film ‘Outside the Wire’
Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, His Dark Materials, The Lego Batman Movie, Bad Boys for Life, Home) has composed the original music for the new Netflix original film Outside the Wire. The movie is directed by Mikael Håfström (1408, Derailed) and stars Anthony Mackie, Damson Idris, Enzo Cilenti, Emily Beecham, Michael Kelly and Pilou Asbæk. The sci-fi adventure is set in the future and centers on a drone pilot who is sent into a deadly militarized zone where he finds himself working for an android officer, tasked to locate a doomsday device before the insurgents do.
Alex Heffes to Score ‘The Tomb’
Alex Heffes is reuniting with director Mikael Hafstrom on the upcoming action thriller The Tomb. The film starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger follows an expert on structural security who is put to the test when he is framed and put in a high-security prison of his own design and must find the person who put him there. Amy Ryan, Jim Caviezel, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, Sam Neill and 50 Cent are also starring in the film. Randall Emmett & George Furla (16 Blocks, The Bad Lieutenant) are producing the Emmett/Furla Films and Summit Entertainment production with Mark Canton (300, Immortals), Robbie Brenner (Machine Gun Preacher) and Kevin King-Templeton (The Expendables, Rocky Balboa).
Alex Heffes to score The Rite
Alex Heffes will write the score for the upcoming supernatural thriller The Rite. The movie will be directed by Mikael Hafstrom (Derailed, Gabriel Yared, Shanghai) and Anothony Hopkins is expected to lead the cast. Hafstrom and Heffes previously worked together on Shanghai, but his score for the yet to be released movie was ultimately replaced by Klaus Badelt. The Rite follows a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces. A release date for the Warner Bros/New Line production has yet to be announced.
Heffes is also working on a feature length documentary about the economic crisis directed by Charles Ferguson (No End in Sight). The movie is expected to come out later this year by Sony Pictures Classics.
