Mark Mancina (TwisterSpeed, Bad Boys, Tarzan,  August Rush, Brother Bear, Training Day) has recently started recording his score for the upcoming Netflix animated film The Sea Beast. The movie is directed by Chris Williams (Bolt, Big Hero 6) and tells the story of a legendary sea monster hunter whose life is turned upside down when a young girl stows away on his ship and befriends the most dangerous beast of them all. No voice casting announcements have been made yet. Williams also wrote the screenplay inspired by the fantastical beasts that adorned 16th and early 17th century nautical maps. Scoring sessions for the project have been taking place at Abbey Road Studios in London. The composer has previously collaborated with Williams on Disney’s 2016 feature Moana, which was co-directed by Williams. The Sea Beast will premiere in 2022 on Netflix.

Mancina’s other recent projects include Clint Eastwood’s Cry Macho, which has was released in select theaters and on HBO Max this past September and is now also available on VOD and will also be coming out on Blu-ray and DVD on December 7.
