The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War directed by Joe & Anthony Russo and starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt. Opening in limited release is the romantic drama Disobedience co-written and directed by Sebastián Lelio and starring Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola. Matthew Herbert (Life in a Day) who previously scored the director’s Academy Award-winning feature A Fantastic Woman has composed the film’s original music. Also opening in limited release is the drama Kings directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven and starring Halle Berry, Daniel Craig, Lamar Johnson, Kaalan “KR” Walker and Rachel Hilson. The film’s original music is composed by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert FordHell or High Water, The PropositionWind River). Also opening in select theaters is the thriller Backstabbing for Beginners co-written and directed by Per Fly and starring Theo James, Belçim Bilgin, Jacqueline Bisset, Rossif Sutherland and Ben Kingsley. Todor Kobakov (Born to Be Blue, The Samaritan) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows an idealistic young employee working at the UN investigates the grisly murder of his predecessor and uncovers a vast global conspiracy, is being released by A24.

Also opening in select cities is the indie drama The House of Tomorrow written and directed by Peter Livolsi and starring Ellen Burstyn, Nick Offerman, Asa Butterfield, Alex Wolff, Maude Apatow and Michaela Watkins. The film’s original score is composed by Rob Simonsen (Foxcatcher, Nerve, The Spectacular Now, Love, Simon, (500) Days of Summer). No soundtrack album has been announced. Another limited release this weekend is the comedy Supercon co-written and directed by Zak Knutson and starring Ryan Kwanten, Maggie Grace, Mike Epps, Brooks Braselman, Russell Peters, Clancy Brown and John Malkovich. James L. Venable (Jersey Girl, Clerks II, Samurai Jack, Scary Movie 3) has composed the film’s original music. The movie, which follows a group of former TV stars and comic book artists who decide to steal the loot from a crooked promoter and an overbearing former TV icon, is being released by Archstone Distribution.

Also opening in limited release this week is the indie comedy Duck Butter directed by Miguel Arteta and starring Alia Shawkat, Laia Costa, Mae Whitman, Hong Chau and Kate Berlant. Composer and synth experimentalist Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith has made her feature film scoring debut on the project.
