Composer and synth experimentalist Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith is making her major feature film scoring debut on the upcoming indie comedy Duck Butter. The film is directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Cedar Rapids, Beatriz at Dinner) and stars Alia Shawkat, Laia Costa, Mae Whitman, Hong Chau and Kate Berlant. The movie centers on aa one-night stand between two women that turns into a sexual experiment to have sex every hour for 24 hours. Arteta and Shawkat have also co-written the screenplay. Mel Eslyn (The One I Love, Blue Jay) and Natalie Qasabian (Searching) are producing the project. Jay & Mark Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home) are serving as executive producers. Duck Butter will premiere next month at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival before being released in select theaters on April 27 by The Orchard. The movie will also be available to stream on Netflix later this year.
