Henry Jackman has signed on to score next summer’s movie adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch, Wanted) and stars Benjamin Walker in the title role alongside Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Rufus Sewell and Alan Tudyk. The supernatural movie tells the story of the man who would become the 16th president of the United States and is portrayed as having a secret identity as a vampire hunter. Seth Grahame-Smith has written the script based on his bestselling novel. Bekmambetov is also producing with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley (Wanted, 9). As reported on this page, Trent Reznor had been in talks  to score the film earlier this year. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is set for a release in 2D and 3D on June 22, 2012 by 20th Century Fox.

Jackman is coming off a busy year with three scores being released in 2011, including X-Men: First Class, Winnie the Pooh and Dreamworks Animation’s Puss in Boots, which is currently playing in theaters. Coming up next month for the composer is the thriller Man on a Ledge starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie, Edward Burns and Kyra Sedgwick. The film directed by Asger Leth about an ex-cop who stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while an NYPD hostage negotiator tries to talk him down will be released on January 27, 2012 by Summit Entertainment.
