Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the dance drama Battle of the Year. The album features the songs from the film by artists including The Roots, Chubb Rock, Kool Kojak, Speedometer, Digital Underground, PC’s Ltd. and more. Also included is a suite from the film’s score composed by Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Revolution, Identity Thief). The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Battle of the Year is directed by Benson Lee and stars Josh Holloway, Laz Alonso, Josh Peck, Caity Lotz and Chris Brown. The movie centers on an all-star American b-boy crew that is training to compete in France at the Battle of the Year (BOTY) International Championships. The film will be released nationwide this Friday, September 20 by Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems label.

Henry Mancini’s ‘The White Dawn’ Score Released
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1974 adventure drama The White Dawn directed by Philip Kaufman (The Right Stuff, Henry & June, Rising Sun) and starring Warren Oates, Timothy Bottoms and Lou Gossett, alongside the Eskimo People of the Canadian Arctic. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Academy Award-winning composer Henry Mancini (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther). The soundtrack for the Paramount Pictures production is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips.
‘Muscle Shoals’ Soundtrack Announced
Republic Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Muscle Shoals. The album includes the songs featured in the film by Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alicia Keys, Paul Simon, Etta James, Jimmy Hughes, Percy Sledge, and more. The soundtrack will be released physically and digitally on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Muscle Shoals is directed by Greg “Freddy” Camalier and tells the story of FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, also known as the birthplace of some of rock ‘n’ roll’s and soul’s most iconic songs, located in Muscle Shoals, AL. The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was picked up by Magnolia Pictures for a domestic release on September 27, 2013, both in theaters and on VOD.
‘Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers’ Soundtrack Details
30 IPS will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers. The album features the film’s original music composed by Simon Russell. Smash & Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers is directed by Havana Marking and centers around the Pink Panthers, the formidable Balkan gang that has stolen nearly a billion dollars worth of jewels from boutiques in the world’s most opulent cities, including Geneva, Paris, London, Dubai and Tokyo. The documentary was released in theaters this summer by Music Box Film’s genre arm Doppelganger Releasing and is set to be coming out on DVD on December 3, 2013.
‘Rock the Casbah’ Soundtrack Released
Pathé Production has released a soundtrack album for the French/Moroccan drama Rock the Casbah. The album features the film’s original score composed by Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Maniac, Populaire, Alexandre Aja’s upcoming Horns). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Rock the Casbah is written and directed by Laila Marrakchi and stars Hiam Abbass, Nadine Labaki, Lubna Azabal, Morjana Alaoui and Omar Sharif. The movie is set in an opulent villa in Tangiers and unfolds over the three days of the rites of mourning dictated by Muslim custom, following the death of a prominent magnate and family patriarch. The drama just premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was released in France this past Wednesday, September 11.
‘The X-Files’ Volume 2 Soundtrack Box Set Released
La-La Land Records has released a new 4-CD box set for the hit mystery series The X-Files. The release includes selections from the show’s original score from all nine seasons composed by Mark Snow, for a total of more than 5 hours of music. The set is limited to 3000 copies and also features a 40-Page CD booklet containing comments from show creator Chris Carter and writer/producers Frank Spotnitz, Glen Morgan and James Wong. The soundtrack is now available to order on La-La Land Records’ website, where you can also listen to audio clips and check out the full track list. La-La Land Records has released a soundtrack album for the animated film Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. The album features the movie’s original score composed by Frederik Wiedmann (Green Lantern: The Animated Series). The composer recorded his music with a 30-piece orchestra in Los Angeles. The soundtrack, which is limited to 2000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio clips. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is directed by Jay Oliva (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns), produced by James Tucker (Superman Unbound) and features the voices of Justin Chambers, Kevin McKidd, Michael B. Jordan, C. Thomas Howell, Nathan Fillion, Ron Perlman, Sam Daly and Kevin Conroy.
‘We Are What We Are’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the horror thriller We Are What We Are. The album features the film’s original score composed by Philip Mossman & Darren Morris and Jeff Grace (Stake Land, Meek’s Cutoff). Also included are two songs by Tommy Strange & The Features and Nick Garrie. The soundtrack will be released on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. We Are What We Are is directed by Jim Mickle and stars Bill Sage, Ambyr Childers, Julia Garner, Wyatt Russell, Nick Damici and Kelly McGillis. The movie is a remake of the 2010 Mexican film of the same name and follows a family of cannibals who, after the death of the father, try to continue a ritualistic tradition of kidnapping and eating other humans. The thriller premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and has been picked up by Entertainment One Films for a theatrical release on September 27, 2013.

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Diablo Cody’s indie comedy Paradise. The album features the film’s original music written by Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman (Emma, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat). Also included is the song Milky White Way performed by actress Julianne Hough. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Paradise is written and directed by Cody and stars Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, Octavia Spencer, Holly Hunter and Nick Offerman. The movie follows a sheltered young woman who loses her faith after a plane crash and goes to Las Vegas to experience the wild life, where she meets an unlikely companion who helps her find her true self. The comedy is now available on VOD and will be released in select theaters on October 18.
