Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the PBS Masterpiece series Maigret. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Uèle Lamore (The Balconettes, The Apology, Above Water). The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, October 24 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The composer’s closing titles track is already available to stream/download now and can be checked out after the jump. Maigret is developed by Patrick Harbinson based on the bestselling novels by Georges Simenon and stars Benjamin Wainwright, Stefanie Martini, Blake Harrison, Kerrie Hayes, Shaniqua Okwok, Reda Elazouar, Rob Kazinsky and Nathalie Armin. The crime drama follows the titular Chief Inspector who – together with his team of maverick but loyal detectives – must outwit some of Paris’s most cunning and violent criminals, while dealing with his own troubled past.

Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British miniseries Brian and Maggie written by James Graham, directed by Stephen Frears and starring Steve Coogan, Harriet Walter, Paul Clayton, Tom Mothersdale and Ivan Kaye. The show’s original music is composed by Murray Gold (Doctor Who, Gentleman Jack, Torchwood, Dead Ringers, A Very English Scandal, Moonflower Murders, It’s a Sin, Quiz). The 2-parter, which follows politician-turned-journalist Brian Walden and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher as they sit for one of the most famous political exchanges of all time in 1989, premiered in the UK this past January on Channel 4 and is making its U.S. debut on PBS as part of Masterpiece.

‘Maigret’ Soundtrack Album Released
Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for the French crime drama Maigret. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Bruno Coulais (The Chorus, Coraline, Wolfwalkers, The Crimson Rivers, The Secret of Kells, Winged Migration). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out the full track list and listen to audio samples. Maigret is co-written and directed by Patrice Leconte and stars Gerard Depardieu, Melanie Bernier and Jade Labeste. The movie is based on Georges Simenon’s classic novel and follows the titular detective as he investigates the death of a young girl in 1953 and crosses paths with a young offender who reminds him of the dead girl.
ITV’s ‘Maigret’ to Feature Music by Samuel Sim
Samuel Sim is composing the music for the upcoming ITV drama Maigret. The series based on Georges Simenon’s best-selling novels is set in 1950s Paris and stars Rowan Atkinson as the legendary French fictional detective Jules Maigret. Fiona Shaw, Aiden McCardle, Shaun Dingwall, Lucy Cohu, Leo Starr, Rufus Wright, Hugh Simon, David Dawson, Colin Mace and Rebecca Night are co-starring. The drama is written by Stewart Harcourt (Treasure Island, Marple), produced by Jeremy Gwilt (Home Fires) and executive produced by Barnaby Thompson (An Ideal Husband, Dorian Gray, St. Trinians) and Ben Latham-Jones (The D Train) for Ealing Studios, John Simenon & Paul Aggett and Stewart Harcourt.
