Premiering tonight is the new NBC comedy Growing Up Fisher created by DJ Nash, narrated by Jason Bateman and starring J.K. Simmons, Jenna Elfman, Eli Barker, Ava Deluca-Verley and Lance Lim. The show’s original music is composed by Mateo Messina (Juno, Fairly Legal, Butter). The series centers on an 11-year old son who idolizes his blind father and is bemused by his mother’s newfound adolescence. Jeff Beal Scoring Lifetime’s ‘A Day Late and a Dollar Short’
Jeff Beal has recently composed the score for the upcoming Lifetime original movie A Day Late and a Dollar Short. The film is based on the New York Times bestseller by Terry McMillan (Waiting to Exhale, How Stella Got Her Groove Back) and stars Whoopi Goldberg as Viola Price, the irascible matriarch who tries to create some order within her family after learning her next asthma attack might kill her. Ving Rhames, Mekhi Phifer, Anika Noni Rose and Kimberly Elise are co-starring. Stephen Tolkin is directing the drama and Shernold Edwards (Haven) has written the screenplay. Goldberg and Tolkin producing the project alongside Tom Leonardis (Ruby’s Bucket of Blood), Jeffrey Hayes (The Starter Wife, Crusoe) and Bill Haber (Rizzoli & Isles).

The drama tells the true story of the first African American ever to be named Individual All-round Champion in artistic gymnastics at the Olympics. Sanders, Lili Simmons, Alexandra Daddario, Michael Potts, Kevin Dunn, Tory Kittles, Elizabeth Reaser and Brad Carter. T Bone Burnett (Inside Llewyn Davis, O Brother Where Are Thou?) is composing the show’s original score. True Detective follows two cops whose lives intersect during a 17-year serial killer investigation in Louisiana. The drama will air every Sunday night on HBO. Jeff Cardoni to Score ‘The Lottery’ Pilot and ‘Miss Meadows’
Jeff Cardoni has signed on to score the Lifetime pilot The Lottery. The show is created by Timothy Sexton (Children of Men) and stars Marley Shelton, Michael Graziadei, Lesley-Ann Brantset, Louise Lombard, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Martin Donovan and David Alpay. The drama is set 25 years in the future when the human race faces extinction and when women stop having children. When 100 fertilized embryos are discovered, a national lottery is setup to help decide the surrogates. Danny Cannon (Judge Dredd, The Young Americans) is directing the pilot episode and is also executive producing the Warner Horizon production with Dawn Olmstead (Prison Break, Tru Calling). Cardoni has previously scored the Cannon-produced hit series CSI: Miami.
Robert Duncan to Score ‘The Gabby Douglas Story’
Robert Duncan has been hired to score the Lifetime original movie The Gabby Douglas Story. The film is directed by Gregg Champion (The Cowboy Way, Amish Grace) and stars Imani Hakim and Sydney Mikaylain the title role as the first African American ever to be named Individual All-round Champion in artistic gymnastics at the Olympics. Mikayla will portray Douglas during her childhood while Hakim will play the gold medalist as a teenager and young adult. Regina King has been cast as Douglas’ mother and S. Epatha Merkerson as her grandmother. The drama’s script written by Maria Nation (The Two Mr. Kissels). Zev Braun & Philip Krupp (Edges of the Lord, A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story) are executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production and David Rosemont (Lifetime’s Bonnie & Clyde) serves as a producer.
Mario Grigorov to Score Lifetime’s ‘Flowers in the Attic’
Mario Grigorov has been hired to score the upcoming Lifetime original movie Flowers in the Attic. The film based on V.C. Andrews’ bestselling novel stars Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn, Kiernan Shipka, Mason Dye and Dylan Bruce. The movie follows four young siblings, two boys and two girls, who, after the tragic death of their father, are subjected to cruel emotional and physical abuse resulting from a dark, long-hidden family secret. Deborah Chow (The High Cost of Living) is directing the thriller from a script by Kayla Alpert (Confessions of a Shopaholic). Merideth Finn (The Rite), Michele Weiss (Dear John) and Charles W. Fries (Screamers) are executive producing the project.

The music of the two-parter is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Hatfield & McCoys).
