Jeff Russo to Score Jon Avnet’s ‘The Three Christs of Ypsilanti’

Jeff Russo has been tapped to score the upcoming drama The Three Christs of Ypsilanti. The film is directed by Jon Avnet (Fried Green Tomatoes, Up Close & Personal, The War) and stars Richard Gere, Walton Goggins, Peter Dinklage, Julianna Margulies and Bradley Whitford. The movie revolves around a doctor who is treating three paranoid schizophrenic patients at the Ypsilanti State Hospital in Michigan, each of whom believe they are Jesus Christ. Avnet also co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Nazarian based on the biographical novel by Milton Rokeach. The director is also producing the project for his Brooklyn Films company, alongside Aaron Stern, Molly Hassell (Edmond, Jackie & Ryan), Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier.

The event presented by Education Through Music–Los Angeles member Angel Velez will take place at 7pm at the Malibu Screening Room and will be preceded by with a pre-concert interview and reception at 6pm featuring a discussion with the composers, moderated by Varèse Sarabande’s Robert Townson.

Jeff Russo to Score Syfy’s ‘Channel Zero’

Jeff Russo is set to score the upcoming Syfy original series Channel Zero. The show is created by Nick Antosca (The Forest) based on Kris Straub’s online short story and will star Paul Schneider, Fiona Shaw, Shaun Benson, Natalie Brown and Luisa D’Oliveira. The anthology series centers on one man’s obsessive recollection of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s – and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood. Craig William Macneill (The Boy) will direct all episodes of the first season. Antosca is also executive producing the Universal Cable production with Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra, Victor Frankenstein).
