WaterTower Music will release the official soundtrack album for Ron Howard’s upcoming racing drama Rush. The album features the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer who has previously collaborated with the director on such films as The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons and Frost/Nixon. The soundtrack will be released on September 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full album details and audio clips. Rush starring Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Brühl, Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara, Stephen Mangan, Christian McKay, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Jamie de Courcey, Pierfrancesco Favino and Natalie Dormer centers on the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda and their Formula One racing teams, McLaren and Ferrari during the 1975/76 season, as both were pushed to the breaking point of their psychological and physical endurance.

Hans Zimmer to Score ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’
Hans Zimmer has been tapped to score the superhero sequel The American Spider-Man 2. The film is directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Denis Leary, Colm Feore, Chris Cooper, Sally Field, Chris Zylka, Marton Csokas and Felicity Jones. In the sequel, Peter Parker/Spider-Man faces a new villain, Electro, deals with the return of his old friend Harry Osborn and uncovers new clues about his past. Avi Arad (X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk) is producing the project with Matt Tolmach. Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) & Jeff Pinkner (Alias, Fringe) have written the screenplay with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, White House Down).

Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:
Already in theaters since Wednesday is the animated film sequel Despicable Me 2 directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud and featuring the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand, Ken Jeong, Steve Coogan and Benjamin Bratt. Pharrell Williams has written the movie’s original songs and themes and Heitor Pereira (The Smurfs) has composed the film’s original score. The film’s original score is composed and produced by Hans Zimmer. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. ‘The Lone Ranger’ Score Album Details
Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album for Gore Verbinski’s western The Lone Ranger. The album features the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer who has previously collaborated with the director on the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Rango and The Ring Also included is a track by the folk band Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 2, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. A physical version is set to be released later in July by Intrada Records. As previously reported, Hollywood Records will release a separate soundtrack featuring music inspired by the film. The Lone Ranger based on the popular 1950s TV series and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter.

RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film, including the original track Take Yo Panties Off by Snoop Dogg & Craig Robinson, as well as tracks by Cypress Hill, Whitney Houston, Funkadelic, Backstreet Boys, Norman Greenbaum, J-Kwon, K.Flay and a track from James Franco’s band Daddy. Behind the Music of ‘Man of Steel’
Rolling Stone premiered a behind the scenes video featurette on the music of Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel. Hans Zimmer to Score Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’
Hans Zimmer has confirmed in a recent interview with Collider that he has started work on Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sci-fi film Interstellar. The movie is based on a script by Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight, Person of Interest) and stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Michael Caine. No specific plot details have been revealed yet, but the movie is supposed to “depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding”. Nolan is producing the Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures production with Emma Thomas and Lynda Obst (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Siege). Zimmer has previously collaborated with Nolan on the Dark Knight trilogy and Inception.
Varèse Sarabande’s 35th Anniversary Celebration
On Saturday night, film music label Varèse Sarabande hosted their 35th Anniversary Concert Gala at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, California. The sold out concert was hosted and produced by Varese Sarabande’s Robert Townson and performed by the Golden State Pops Orchestra (GSPO) and Chorale. The event featured a special guest performance by Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer who performed a suite from Driving Miss Daisy on piano featuring Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and violinist Ann Marie Calhoun. The suite also included a preview from the composer’s score for the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. Additionally, Academy Award-winner Michael Giacchino (Up) conducted the world premiere of a special suite from his score for Star Trek Into Darkness and John Powell (The Bourne Trilogy) conducted a suite from his Oscar-nominated score for Dreamworks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon.
Hans Zimmer Scoring Steve McQueen’s ‘Twelve Years a Slave’
Hans Zimmer has recently composed the score for the upcoming historical drama Twelve Years a Slave. The film is directed by Steve McQueen amd stars Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Brad Pitt, Quvenzhané Wallis, Paul Dano, Scott McNairy, Sarah Paulson, Alfre Woodard, Paul Giamatti and Lupita Nyong’o. The movie is based on the autobiography Of the same title by Solomon Northup and centers on a free man who was kidnapped in 1841 and sold into slavery on a Louisiana cotton plantation. McQueen co-wrote the script with John Ridley (Red Tails). Dede Gardner (The Tree of Life, Eat Pray Love) is producing the New Regency Producctions and Plan B Entertainment production with Jeremy Kleiner (Killing Them Softly) and Brad Pitt. McQueen’s previous feature Shame featured a score by Harry Escott.

Audio clips from all tracks of the soundtrack album for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel have surfaced.
