Walt Disney Animation Studios announced last night that Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez are writing a new song for the upcoming animated short Frozen Fever. The film is directed by Jennifer Lee (Wreck-It-Ralph) and Chris Buck (Tarzan) who also helmed last year’s hit movie and takes place on Anna’s birthday, for which Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever. Peter Del Vecho (Frozen, The Princess and the Frog, Winnie the Pooh) is producing the project. Lopez and Anderson-Lopez have written all songs for 2013’s feature version and received their first Academy Award for the song Let It Go.

Idina Menzel to Perform ‘Let It Go’ from ‘Frozen’ on the Oscars
Oscars show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today that Idina Menzel will, for the first time, perform the Academy Award-nominated song Let it Go from Disney’s animated feature Frozen at the 86th Academy Awards ceremony on March 2, 2014. The song written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez is one of the four songs up for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category. The two songwriters are nominated for the first time. The performance will also mark Menzel’s first appearance at the Oscars. The Tony Award-winning singer, songwriter and actress has previously appeared in such films as Enchanted, Ask the Dust and Rent. The soundtrack for Frozen featuring the nominated song is available on Walt Disney Records.
Christophe Beck, Robert Lopez & Kristen Anderson-Lopez Honored With Annie Award
Composer Christophe Beck and songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez were honored with an Annie Award in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the score and songs from Disney’s hit animated film Frozen. Beck accepted the award in person at the ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles. The other contenders in the category were Alan Silvestri for The Croods, Henry Jackman for Turbo, Mark Mothersbaugh for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2, Heitor Pereira & Pharrell Williams for Despicable Me 2, Danny Elfman for Epic, Randy Newman for Monsters University and Dominic Lewis for Free Birds.

Opening nationwide this holiday weekend after a 5-day exclusive engagement at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre is Disney’s animated feature Frozen directed by Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck and featuring the voice talent of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Santino Fontana, Alan Tudyk and Ciarán Hinds. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have written the film’s original songs and Christophe Beck (The Muppets, The Hangover) has composed the original score. Also opening wide is the action thriller Homefront directed by Gary Fleder and starring Jason Statham, James Franco, Winona Ryder, Frank Grillo, Kate Bosworth and Rachelle Lefevre. The film’s original score is composed by Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time) who has previously collaborated with the director several times, including on such films as Kiss the Girls, Don’t Say a Word and The Express. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Homefront centers on a former drug enforcement agent and family man who moves off the grid with his daughter to a seemingly quiet bayou backwater to escape his troubled past. Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Soundtrack Details
Walt Disney Records will release the official soundtrack album for the animated feature Frozen. The album features the film’s original songs performed by the voice cast of the movie and written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, as well as a version of the song Let It Go performed by Demi Lovota (click here to check out the song, which premiered online earlier today). Also included is the film’s original score composed by Christophe Beck (Paperman, The Muppets, The Hangover). A deluxe edition of the soundtrack also features demos of both songs and score, outtakes and instrumental karaoke versions. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on November 25, 2013. The physical version will be released as a 2 CD-set and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The film directed by Chris Buck (Tarzan, Surf’s Up) & Jennifer Lee (screenwriter of Wreck-It-Ralph) takes place in a kingdom trapped in eternal winter and follows a young female dreamer who must team up with a daring mountain man, on a journey to find the Snow Queen and put an end to the icy spell. The movie’s voice cast includes Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad. Lee has co-written the screenplay with Shane Morris and Peter Del Vecho (The Princess and the Frog) is producing the animated feature with John Lasseter. It has previously been reported that Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Winnie the Pooh) are writing original songs for the film. Beck has previously scored the critically acclaimed Academy Award-nominated animated short Paperman for Disney Animation.
