Cliff Martinez revealed in a recent interview with Lost in the Multiplex that he will be scoring Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Cinemax original series The Knick. The show starring Clive Owen, Andre Holland, Juliet Rylance, Eve Hewson, Collin Meath and Michael Angarano is set in downtown New York in 1900 and follows the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff at the Knickerbocker Hospital who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. Soderbergh will direct all ten episodes of the series. Jack Amiel & Michael Begler (Big Miracle, The Prince and Me, Raising Helen) have written the scripts and are also executive producing the drama with Soderbergh, Owen and Michael Sugar (The Fifth Estate, Big Miracle) and Gregory Jacobs (Magic Mike, Side Effects).

A number of new TV shows will be premiering this week:
Premiering tomorrow is The CW drama The Carrie Diaries based on based on the bestselling novel by Candace Bushnell and starring AnnaSophia Robb, Austin Butler, Ellen Wong, Katie Findlay, Stefania Owen, Brendan Dooling, Chloe Bridges, Freema Agyeman and Matt Letscher. The prequel to the HBO hit show Sex And The City is executive produced by Amy B. Harris, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Len Goldstein, Candace Bushnell, Miguel Arteta who also directed the pilot episode. The show’s score is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh (21 Jump Street, Hotel Transylvania). The series will be airing every Monday night on The CW. While no major network shows will be premiering this coming week, NBC will air the pilot for Mockingbird Lane on Friday. The reboot of the classic CBS sitcom The Munsters is written by Bryan Fuller and directed by Bryan Singer. The one-hour special stars Jerry O’Connell as family patriarch Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as his wife Lily and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. Cheyenne Jackson, Mason Cook, Charity Wakefield and Beth Grant are also starring in the pilot. Jim Dooley who previously worked with Fuller on the critically acclaimed series Pushing Daisies has scored the pilot. Ruth Barrett Scoring ‘Hunted’
Ruth Barrett is scoring the new TV drama series Hunted. The show is created by Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files) and stars Melissa George as an operative for an elite private intelligence firm who survives an attempt on her life that may have been orchestrated by members of her own team. Adam Raymer (Hawthorne), Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost), Morven Christie, Lex Shrapnel, Uriel Emil, Patrick Malahide, Stephen Campbell Moore and Oscar Kennedy are co-starring. Spotnitz is executive producing the series with Alison Jackson, Jane Featherstone (MI-5), Stephen Garrett (Life on Mars, Eastern Promises) and Christopher Aird. The eight-part series is produced by Kudos Film & Television, in association with Big Light Productions and the BBC. Barrett’s previous credits include the Michael Caine-starring thriller Harry Brown, as well as the Helena Bonham Carter-starring Toast directed by S.J. Clarkson who also directed the first two episodes of Hunted.
Nathaniel Mechaly to Score ‘The Transporter’ TV series
Nathaniel Mechaly has signed on to score the upcoming TV adaptation of Luc Besson’s action franchise The Transporter. The show centers on professional transporter Frank Martin, who opertates in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players. Chris Vance (Prison Break stars in the title role that was played by Jason Statham in the film series. Andrea Osvart, Francois Berleand (Tell No One), who will reprise his role as Inspector Tarconi from the Transporter features, Delphine Chaneac (Splice) and Rachel Skarsten (Birds of Prey) are co-starring. Stephen Williams (Lost) directed the pilot and Luc Besson is among the executive producers on the show. The Transporter is a co-production of HBO, HBO Canada, France’s M6 and Germany’s RTL Television.
