Christopher Willis is set to reunite with director Armando Iannucci on the upcoming The Personal History of David Copperfield. The film stars Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw, Gwendoline Christie, Benedict Wong, Paul Whitehouse, Daisy May Cooper, Aneurin Barnard, Morfydd Clark, Anthony Welsh and Rosalind Eleazar. The movie based on Charles Dicken’s classic novel is set in the 1840s and chronicles the life of its title character as he navigates a chaotic world to find his elusive place within it.

Weekly Film Music Roundup (March 9, 2018)
Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is Disney’s fantasy drama A Wrinkle in Time directed by Ava DuVernay and starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Storm Reid, Mindy Kaling, Guru Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peňa, Levi Miller, Zach Galifianakis and Chris Pine. The film’s original music is composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Westworld, Pacific Rim, Iron Man). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by DJ Khaled feat. Demi Lovato, Sade, Sia, Kehlani and Chloe x Halle. Also opening wide is the action comedy Gringo directed by Nash Edgerton and starring Joel Edgerton, David Oyelowo, Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Yul Vazquez, Thandie Newton and Sharlto Copley. Christophe Beck (Ant-Man, Frozen, Edge of Tomorrow, The Hangover, The Muppets) has composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack album. Composers Michael Giacchino, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez, Germaine Franco and co-director and lyricist Adrian Molina were honored in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from Pixar’s hit movie Coco. Giacchino, Franco and Molina accepted their award in person at tonight’s 45th Annie Awards at UCLA’s Royce Hall. The other contenders in the category were Theodore Shapiro for Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, Clint Mansell for Loving Vincent, Christophe Beck & Jeff Morrow for Disney’s Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and Mychael & Jeff Danna for The Breadwinner.
‘The Death of Stalin’ Soundtrack Details
MKVA will release soundtrack album for the comedy The Death of Stalin. The album features the film’s original music composed by Christopher Willis (Veep, The Lion Guard, Agatha Raisin). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 17, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. John Powell & Jónsi Win Annie Award for ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’
Composer John Powell and singer/ songwriter Jónsi were honored with an Annie Award in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from DreamWorks Animation’s hit animated film How to Train Your Dragon 2. Producer Bonnie Arnold accepted their award at the ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles. The other contenders in the category were Danny Elfman for Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Nicole Renald for Cheatin’, Bruno Coulais & Kila for Song of the Sea
and Joe Hisaishi for The Tale of Princess Kaguya
. Powell has previously won four Annie Awards for the original How to Train Your Dragon film, as well as the features Kung Fu Panda and Shrek and the short Kung Fu Panda: Secret of the Furious Five.
Christopher Willis to Score Disney’s ‘The Lion Guard’
Christopher Willis has been tapped to score Disney Television Animation’s upcoming movie and series The Lion Guard. The projects are developed by Ford Riley (Special Agent Oso) and will continue the story introduced 20 years ago in the studio’s animated classic The Lion King. The movie and show will center on the second-born cub of Simba and Nala as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a group of the bravest and brightest tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. Riley also serves as an executive producer and Howy Parkins (Jake and the Never Land Pirates) is the director. Willis has previously scored Disney’s Mickey Mouse Shorts, for which he received his first Annie Award earlier this year.

Rupert Gregson-Williams & Christopher Willis Scoring HBO’s ‘Veep’
Rupert Gregson-Williams and Christopher Willis are scoring the new HBO comedy series Veep. The political satire is created by Armando Iannucci (In the Loop) and stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as former senator Selina Meyer, a rising star in her party and charismatic leader who seemed to have unlimited potential, until she became vice president and soon discovers the job is nothing like she expected, but everything she was warned about. Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy C. Simons and Sufe Bradshaw are co-starring. Armando Iannucci co-wrote and directed the pilot and is also executive producing the show with Frank Rich of New York Magazine and Christopher Godsick (Take the Lead).
