La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for Roland Emmerich’s 1994 sci-fi adventure Stargate starring Kurt Russell and James Spader. The 25th Anniversary edition features the expanded and remastered score from the movie composed by David Arnold (Independence Day, Casino Royale, Sherlock, Tomorrow Never Dies, Shaft), including over 30 minutes of previously unreleased music. La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack release for the 1969 western True Grit directed by Henry Hathaway and starring John Wayne, Kim Darby and Glen Campbell. The album features the score from the Paramount Pictures production composed and conducted by Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird). Also included is the Academy Award- and Golden Globe-nominated main title song performed by Glen Campbell and co-written by Bernstein and Don Black. The Music of Bond: The First 50 Years
Last Friday, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences celebrated the music of the James Bond series at the event The Music of Bond: The First 50 Years at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The Academy has published a couple of video clips from the event, including guitarist Vic Flick’s live performance of the James Bond theme on the same Clifford Essex Paragon Deluxe he used 50 years ago, as well as an excerpt from the interview with Flick talking about working with composer John Barry on Bond films including Dr. No and Goldfinger. Also embedded is a video clip from the interview with Oscar-winning lyricist Don Black talking about his work with Barry and a story about the theme song for Diamonds Are Forever, as well as an excerpt from the talk with composer Bill Conti on writing the Oscar-nominated title song to For Your Eyes Only.
‘Love at First Bite’ Soundtrack Announced
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1979 horror comedy Love at First Bite. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by Charles Bernstein, as well as the disco hits Fly By Night penned by the composer plus Dancin’ Through The Night from the original 1979 LP. Love at First Bite directed by Stan Dragoti and starring George Hamilton, Susan Saint James and Richard Benjamin received one Golden Globe nomination for Hamilton’s lead performance.
Remastered ‘Chinatown’ Soundtrack Announced
Varese Sarabande Records has announced the latest batch of titles in the Varese CD Club series. Most notably, the label will be relasing a remastered soundtrack edition for Roman Polanski’s classic 1974 thriller Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. The album features the Academy Award-nominated score composed by Jerry Goldsmith. The release is limited to 3000 copies and is available for pre-order on Varese’s website, where you can also check out a number of audio clips. The previous soundtrack CD has been out-of-print for more than a decade. The release coincides with the Blu-Ray debut of the film. Apart from the score nomination, Chinatown has also received 10 other Oscar nods, including in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor/Actress categories.
