Wave Theory Records has announced a soundtrack album for the BBC mini-series SS-GB. The album features the Ivor Novello- and RTS Award-nominated music from the show composed by Dan Jones (On Chesil Beach, Shadow of the Empire, World on Fire, Lady Macbeth, Any Human Heart) and performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (conducted by Elizabeth Purnell). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon and other digital music services. SS-GB is written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade based on Len Deighton’s 1978 novel and stars Sam Riley, Kate Bosworth, Rainer Bock, Lars Eidinger, Maeve Dermody and James Cosmo. The 5-parter is directed by Philipp Kadelbach and follows a British homicide detective as he investigates a murder in a German-occupied England in a parallel universe where the Nazis won World War II.

Alex Heffes & Anoushka Shankar Scoring BBC’s ‘A Suitable Boy’
Director Mira Nair has revealed on Twitter that Alex Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Roots, 11.22.63, Touching the Void) and Anoushka Shankar are currently scoring the upcoming BBC series A Suitable Boy. The show is developed by Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones’ Diary, War & Peace, Les Misérables) based on Vikram Seth’s classic novel of the same title and stars Tabu, Tanya Maniktala and Ishaan Khatter. The 6-parter is directed by Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding, Vanity Fair, The Namesake) tells the story of a spirited university student who is coming of age in North India in 1951 at the same time as the country is carving out its own identity as an independent nation.
Nainita Desai Scoring BBC’s ‘Unprecedented: Theatre from a State of Isolation’
Nainita Desai (For Sama, Fierce Queens, Enemy Within, Darkness Visible, Untamed Romania) has composed the original music for the new BBC series Unprecedented: Theatre from a State of Isolation. The show features more than 10 new plays, which were written in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and rehearsed/filmed using digital conferencing technology. Among the participating actors are Gemma Arterton, James Norton, Lennie James, Julian Barratt, Rory Kinnear, Meera Syal and Alison Steadman. The plays will respond to how our understanding and experiences of community, education, work, relationships, family, culture, climate and capitalism are evolving on an unprecedented scale.

Stephen Rennicks has composed the original score for the new BBC/Hulu limited series Normal People. The show is based on Sally Rooney’s New York Times best-selling novel of the same title and stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal. The drama centers on the complicated relationship of Marianne and Connell from the end of their school days in a small town in the west of Ireland to their undergraduate years at Trinity College. Rooney is also executive producing the Element Pictures production with Alice Birch (Lady Macbeth), Mark O’Rowe (Boy A), Ed Guiney (The Favourite, The Lobster), Andrew Lowe (Shadow Dancer, Ripper Street), Emma Norton (Rosie), Anna Ferguson (A Discovery of Witches), as well as Lenny Abrahamson who also directed the first six episodes.

‘Doctor Who’ Season 12 Soundtrack Details
Silva Screen Records will release a new soundtrack album for BBC’s Doctor Who. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s twelfth season composed by Segun Akinola (The Last Tree) who previously scored Season 11 of the series. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on April 3, 2020. Visit Amazon to pre-order the digital version.
