The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that its Board of Governors voted to present Honorary Awards to four artists, including songwriter Diane Warren. She will receive the award at the 13th Governors Awards on Saturday, November 19, 2022, in Los Angeles. Warren has written original songs for more than 100 films and has been nominated thirteen times in the Original Song category.

Billie Eilish, Finneas & Hans Zimmer Win Academy Awards for ‘No Time to Die’ & ‘Dune’
Billie Eilish & Finneas O’Connell were honored with their first Oscar at tonight’s 94th Academy Awards ceremony at the DolbyTheatre in Hollywood for their title song from Cary Fukunaga’s James Bond film No Time to Die. Check out their acceptance speech after the jump. Earlier in the evening, Hans Zimmer received his second Academy Award for his score for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. He previously won his first Oscar in 1995 for Disney’s The Lion King.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that four of the five Oscar-nominated original songs will be performed live at this Sunday’s 94th Academy Awards ceremony. Beyoncé‘ will perform the end titles track Be Alive from Reinaldo Marcus Green’s King Richard, Billie Eilish & Finneas O’Donnell will perform their Grammy Award-winning title song from No Time to Die, Reba McEntire will perform the Diane Warren-penned Somehow You Do from Rodrigo Garcia’s Four Good Days and Sebastián Yatra will perform the Lin-Manuel Miranda-written Dos Oruguitas from Disney’s animated feature Encanto.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced the shortlists for several categories for the 94th Academy Awards, including Original Score and Original Song. The shortlisted scores and songs are listed in alphabetical order below. The nominations for the 94th Academy Awards will be announced on February 8, 2022 and the awards show will be held on March 27.

Emile Mosseri, Jon Batiste, Pinar Toprak, H.E.R. & Others Invited to Join Academy
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 395 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures to join the organization. Among the invited artists this year are a number of film composers, including Emile Mosseri (The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Kajillionaire) who received his first Academy Award nomination this year for Minari, Pinar Toprak (Captain Marvel, The Angel), Aska Matsumiya (I’m Your Woman, Skate Kitchen), Lolita Ritmanis (Blizzard of Soul, Wild Daze), Lisbeth Scott (All My Life, Caroline and Jackie), Amelia Warner (Mary Shelley, Wild Mountain Thyme), Nora Kroll-Rosenbaun (Regarding Susan Sontag, Stockholm, Pennsylvania), Amanda Brown (Babyteeth, Red Obsession) and Len Calvo (Finding Agnes).
Academy Announces Updates Rules in Music Categories
The Academy’s Board of Governors has approved rules and campaign regulations for the 94th Academy Awards, including two changes in the music categories. In the Original Score category, “for a score to be eligible, it must comprise a minimum of 35% of the total music in the film, lowered from 60%” and in the Original Song category, “no more than five songs from any one film may be submitted.” Submission deadline for both categories has been set for Monday, November 1, 2021. Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Jon Batiste Win Academy Award for ‘Soul’
Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste were honored with the Academy Award for their score for Pixar’s Soul at tonight’s 93rd Oscar ceremony. Reznor & Ross have previously received their first Oscar for their music for 2010’s The Social Network and were also nominated this year for their music for David Fincher’s Mank. The composers previously received the Golden Globe, Critic’ Choice Award and BAFTA Award for their work on the animated movie. Check out their acceptance speech after the jump.
