Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Revenant, Little Buddha) & Aska Matsumiya (Skate Kitchen, I’m Your Woman, Selah and the Spades, 37 Seconds) have composed the original music for the upcoming sci-fi drama After Yang. Sakamoto has contributed the film’s theme, which has been released as part of the composer’s vinyl box set 2020S earlier this year. Matsumiya has composed the score for the movie written and directed by Kogonada (Columbus) and starring Colin Farrell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Justin Min, Sarita Choudhury, Haley Lu Richardson and Clifton Jones, Jr.. The drama is based on the short story Saying Goodbye to Yang by Alexander Weinstein and tells the story of a father and daughter as they try to save the life of their robotic family member. Expanded Soundtrack Album for Steven Spielberg’s ‘Always’ Announced

La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1989 romance fantasy drama Always directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter, John Goodman, Brad Johnson and Audrey Hepburn. The album features the expanded and remastered original score from the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment production composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, E.T.), including previously unreleased music and alternate cues. The CD, which is limited to 3,500 copies, will be available to order on the label’s official website at noon today. Altitude Films has announced that composer Jim Williams (Possessor, Sightseers, Beast, Kill List, A Field in England) is reteaming with director Julia Ducournau on the upcoming French horror thriller Titane. The film is written and directed by Ducournau and stars Agathe Rousselle, Vincent Lindon, Laïs Salameh and Garance Marillier. The movie revolves around a father who is reunited with his son who disappeared ten years ago following a series of unexplained crimes. The first-ever soundtrack album has been announced for the Acorn TV series Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries. Joel P West has recently been recording his score for Marvel Studios’ upcoming feature Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng. The movie follows the title character who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. Cretton also co-wrote the screenplay with David Callaham (Wonder Woman 1984, The Expendables) and Andrew Lanham (The Shack). ‘Minamata’ Soundtrack Album Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama Minamata. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, The Revenant, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Little Buddha, Snake Eyes). Also included is the end credits song One Single Voice performed by Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins who also stars in the movie. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 30 and is available for pre-order here. A vinyl edition coming out on the same date is also available to order on Amazon. Minamata is directed by Andrew Levitas and stars Johnny Depp, Hiroyuki Sanada, Minami, Bill Nighy, Ryo Kase,Jun Kunimura, Tadanobu Asano and Akiko Iwase. The movie follows celebrated war photographer W. Eugene Smith who has disconnected from the world but takes a final assignment from his Life Magazine editor and travels back to Japan to investigate the poisoning of the inhabitants of a fishing village called Minamata. The 2-CD set features the expanded and remastered original music from the film composed by Angelo Francesco Lavagnino (Lost Continent, An American in New York, Othello, The Naked Maja), including the restored original 1966 soundtrack album on the first disc and the complete score on the second disc.
