Sony Classical has announced the album A Gathering of Friends, an all-new recording of two concert works by Academy Award winner John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) written for cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Also included are selections of Williams’ film scores from Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List, Lincoln and Munich conducted by the composer himself and performed by the New York Philharmonic. The recording also includes special appearances by the Spanish guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas and harpist Jessica Zhou. The album w ill be released digitally and physically on May 20 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track (Theme from Schindler’s List) is already available to stream/download now. Polydor Records has released the theme song from the new Apple TV+ original series Slow Horses. The track, entitled Strange Game, is performed by Mick Jagger who also co-wrote the track with the show’s composer Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, Enola Holmes, The Trial of the Chicago 7). Deadline is reporting that novelist Richard Mason (The Drowning People, The Lighted Rooms) and Christopher Read will compose the original music for the Hulu musical drama pilot History of a Pleasure Seeker. The show written by Mason based on his 2012 book of the same name is set in early 20th Century Amsterdam and tells the story of a charismatic young man’s explosive adventures through all the temptations of the Belle Époque.
