Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack for the FX limited series Under the Banner of Heaven. The album features music from and inspired by the show composed by Pearl Jam co-founder and bassist Jeff Ament, former Red Hot Chilli Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer (as Pluralone), together with Fitz and the Tantrums drummer/songwriter John Wicks and Josh Evans. The soundtrack will be released digitally this June. Three first tracks from the first three episodes will be released as a digital single this Friday, May 20 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Vangelis (born as Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou) has passed away at age 79 in France. The Greek composer has scored numerous films, including Hugh Hudson’s 1981 drama Chariots of Fire, for which he won the Academy Award and also received a Grammy Award nomination, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, for which he was BAFTA- and Golden Globe-nominated and Scott’s 1492: Conquest of Paradise, for which he earned another Golden Globe nomination. His other film scoring credits include Costa-Gavras’ Missing, Koreyoshi Kurahara’s Antarctica, Roger Donaldson’s The Bounty, Roman Polanski’s Bitter Moon and Oliver Stone’s Alexander.
