Rick Smith & Karl Hyde (of the electronic music group Underworld) have composed the original score for the new FX limited series Pistol. The show is created by Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby), directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later…) and stars Toby Wallace, Anson Boon, Christian Lees, Louis Partridge, Jacob Slater, Sydney Chandler, Maisie Williams, Talulah Riley, Emma Appleton and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The 6-part drama is based on Sex Pistols’ founding member and guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol and tells the story of a band of working-class kids with “no future,” who shook the boring, corrupt Establishment to its core, threatened to bring down the government and changed music and culture forever. Universal Music Germany has released a soundtrack album for the animated feature Mia and Me: The Hero of Centopia. The album features the film’s original score composed by Christoph Zirngibl (Jerry Cotton, Luna’s Revenge, Victor and the Secret of Crocodile Mansion, Männerhort, Military Academy). Also included is the movie’s theme song Come and Fly With Me performed by Lisa-Marie (check out the official music video below). Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1993 period comedy Matinee directed by Joe Dante and starring John Goodman, Cathy Moriarty, Simon Fenton, Omri Katz, Kellie Martin and Lisa Jakub. The album features the film’s complete original score composed and conducted by Academy Award winner Jerry Goldsmith (The Omen, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Chinatown, Planet of the Apes, Poltergeist, Basic Instinct, L.A. Confidential, Patton, Gremlins), including previously unreleased music and several alternate cues. The CD is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples and find out more about the soundtrack. The show’s original music is composed by Matthew Head (P-Valley, Boomerang, The Family Business). The series, which is inspired by the Tom Swift book series and revolves around the title character who was introduced in the network’s Nancy Drew, will air every Tuesday on the CW.
Premiering in the U.S. on Thursday, June 2, is the British drama This Is Going to Hurt created by Adam Kay based on his book of the same name and starring Ben Whishaw, Hannah Onslow, Ambika Mod, Michele Austin, Rosie Akerman and Andreea Paduraru. JARV IS…, led by Jarvis Cocker (of Pulp), have composed the film’s original music. Rough Trade Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the artist’s score and songs earlier this year. It was announced during a panel at today’s third day of Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim that Kevin Kiner (Narcos: Mexico, CSI: Miami, Making a Murderer, Hell on Wheels) is composing the music for Lucasfilm’s upcoming Disney+ animated shorts series Tales of the Jedi. The 6-part anthology show written and executive produced by Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett) will tell stories from different Jedi of the prequel era and features Star Wars characters Ahsoka Tano, Count Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn (voiced by Liam Neeson), Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker.
